AN Iranian convicted of making videos showing his sexual relations with married women has been given 100 lashes in public.

The man was arrested after several complaints about "his illegitimate relations with married women and filming the scene", ...The punishment for adulterers under Iran's Islamic sharia law is flogging and death by stoning. But the judiciary says it has not carried out stoning sentences since 2002.

Rapists are also sentenced to death.

Iranian authorities were prompted to take tougher measures on offenders making sex videos after a homemade film allegedly showing a television star was widely distributed on the internet and the streets late last year.

The married women weren't punished? That's amazing!

They were probably only given light sentences....eyes gouged out, thrown off of a mountain, drawn and quartered, stoned and THEN beheaded.

Probably, the women have not been formally identified. (In Iran, the rules for identifying a woman on an immoral film are rather strict, thus, also, the actress on the other sex film has not been charged, but has endured a lot of public notoriety.)
This man was identified, because like the world's biggest idiot, he went around a conservative north Iranian town saying: "Look at me, I have films of myself bonking married ladies!"

For which he deserves a flogging. Once for being immoral. Ninety-nine other lashes for being stupid.

And a 'culture' that revels in subhuman, pre-stone-age brutality masquerading as 'justice' views this as some sort of a precedent?  The fact that they haven't had a good, family-friendly stoning in five years?

They have very big and voluntary flogging displays at the mourning festival of Ashura.

Some Iranian men flog themselves all day - absolutely bloody, with chains and blades.

By comparison, a formal flogging would be easy.

The former President, Khatami, made a monatorium on stoning. People are still executed for adultery, but they are hanged rather than stoned.

How very decent of him.  Such a fine man.

People are still executed for adultery, but they are hanged rather than stoned.

Well, that makes all the difference, then   :-)

Sounds like a delightful vacation getaway.

I still can't shake that video of a Taleban pushing a white-hot metal spoon to his captive (a man who thought about adultery) and made him lick it. His body just couldn't do it...then the barrel of the AK-47 come into frame at the back of his head. He licked it alright!

We backward and Neanderthal Westerners have so much to learn from this noble, ancient culture.  I'm awestruck by the way that they have made such great use of their rich and diverse history, harnessing the very best that thousands of years of rigorous learning and contemplation has brought.

It's all George Bush's fault!  If he hadn't stolen the election, we could be more like them!

:-)

Sometimes I lie awake at night wondering....the reason why we haven't nuked these syphilitic scat-brains to the point where their entire country would be completely uninhabitable for the next ten thousand years is what, exactly?

How would the world be less well-off?

Lack of oil?  Well, there's that.  But it would provide an additional excuse for our opening up Alaska for drilling and getting to work on that nuclear-powered automobile that I've been bugging Lee Iacocca about for the past few years.

(he doesn't answer my letters anymore.....'sigh')

Would it be a sin against God to turn Iran into a continuous sheet of glass?  I think that God would be overjoyed that His Children used their minds and powers of reason to better the lives of every living thing on the planet in such an innovative and Biblical manner.

I'm not saying we should follow Iran's example, but this country would do well to take a much harder line on porn.

Some American would invent glass skates ... imagine ... instead of going 1/2 mile down a hill, you could skate at high speeds for hundreds of miles.
