More eeriness--You ever see the movie "North Dallas Forty?"

That team's season ended also on a botched hold by a QB.

get's even eerier - I haven't thought of that movie in years, and I just did about 10 minutes ago while watching Shockey playing for Giants visably injured - and I just said aloud to my friend that he is the type that would refuse to stop playing and the Docs are probably shooting him up like in the movie "North Dallas Forty".

I worked on a search and rescue team for several years, and the most common causes of cliff falls (in my experience) were:

1. Suicide
2. Slip or fall from loose gravel, portion of cliff breaking off
3. Climbing in unsafe area
4. Drunk

Most of the murders I made were dumped in a river or lake. Sad story, but I wouldn't speculate on a cause. College kids get depressed and off themselves. They also get drunk and fall. Football players tend to be risk takers, so he could have just been climbing and fell.

The oddest thing is that he was in street clothes and no vehicle was around.

Maybe someone familiar with the area knows if the site was out in the boonies or within walkable distance from somewhere?

I'm betting homicide. His family will demand an investigation that won't stop because they won't accept suicide.

Except you didn't bother to check the easily-obtainable facts before posting your baseless speculation and accusation, which would have completely refuted it. Such unfounded speculation and accusation expressed in the midst of grievers was irresponsible, inconsiderate, callous, and cruel.

That, too, happens in this real world. Sorry to learn you are another purveyor of it.

I live in LA but I'm not familiar with that area. It has been all over the news that the place he fell was less than a mile from his home. Of course one can't rule out suicide, but from what I know of Danelo, it isn't likely.

I can admit I was wrong to jump to conclusions. But I will not apologize for typing what I thought at the time. Throw your righteousness somewhere else, ok?

The instant you presume to dissuade me from expressing my viewpoint, you lose the right to do so.

Glad to hear you're flexible enough to reconsider your original thought when presented with real evidence. Now, please, kindly refrain in the future from inconsiderately imposing your ill-considered and irreverent thoughts on those in grief.

No deal. I, and everyone else on this forum can post what they like. It is an opinion based forum. Just as you have the right to admonish me for posting something you don't agree with, I also have the right to post- even if that means it gets under your skin.

And BTW, police suspect foul play. So for me to theorize as I did, in fact, isn't that far off.

Not surprising. He ate bacon at every meal.

Wow, you sure are a Pot Kettle Black kinda person, aren't you? A man lives to 87 years of age, ate bacon at every meal, and according to you, that's why he died? You're a regular detective! Now stop throwing your hollier-than-thou facade around when you need to practice what you preach.

As for this little farce with you, I am done. God bless!

It's a grassy park that goes right to the edge of the cliffs. I could imagine friends partying there at night. But why wouldn't the others have noticed he was missing? Prayers for his family. Very sad.

City Fences In A Portion Of San Pedro Cliffs Where USC Football Was Found Dead
(San Pedro, CA) -- Workers have fenced in a portion of a cliff-top area at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro. It is not the same area where USC football player Mario Danelo fell to his death last weekend, but the installation of the fence was prompted by the tragedy. Funeral services for Danelo drew about two-thousand mourners Friday morning. The two-hour-long service was held at the Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Coach Pete Carroll eulogized Danelo, along with his high school coach and older brother.
