'Peace mom' Cindy Sheehan, other activists arrive in Cuba for Guantanamo protest

American "peace mom" Cindy Sheehan called for the closure of the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo, Cuba, as she and other activists arrived here Saturday to draw attention to the nearly 400 terror suspects still held at the remote site.

Sheehan is among 12 human rights and anti-war activists who will travel across this Caribbean island next week, arriving at the main gate of the Guantanamo base on Thursday — five years after the first prisoners were flown in.

"Anyone who knows me knows that I am not afraid of anything," Sheehan said when asked about the possibility of U.S. sanctions for traveling to communist-run Cuba, which remains under an American trade embargo.

"What is more important is the inhumanity that my government is perpetrating at Guantanamo," she told reporters.

I hope they arrest them and lock them in with the terrorist prisoners, they seem to love so much, and have the guards turn their backs.

Don't the Marines have a minefield somewhere down there where they can let Cindy & Co. set up their picket line?

"Who is financing this hate filled anti-American old crone?"

Codepink and George Soros.

And BTW here is what they say in a S American paper:

Cindy Sheehan, Peace Defenders, to Cuba

http://www.plenglish.com/article.asp?ID=%7B27AC6A4E-57AF-49AA-981B-9284E858DE16%7D)&language=EN

The program of Sheehan and her fellows will last until January 13, and will include visits to the Martin Luther King Religious Center, the Latin American School of Medicine, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and other places of interest.

They will travel to the eastern province of Guantanamo to express their rejection of torture there and will participate in a press conference to be held in Havana.

According to the sources, they will condemn the Military Commissions Law and will demand fair trials or the release for all the prisoners.

Me neither.

One of the strangest things I had to get used to when moving into Canada was billboards advertising trips to Cuba. What???!!! I didn't think we were allowed to go there. I still am not (as far as I know!), b/c I have an American passport. However my kids and husband can, if they want...

Over my dead body, however. LOL!

While they're there, they should protest the illegal detention of political dissenters in Cuba's common prisons...

(Not to mention the torture, kidnapping, and murders of political dissenters and their families.)

There are several ... but how is she supposed to get in? The "main gate" is the airport. The other "gate" allows Cubans from Caiminara and Bouqueron (forgive the spelling errors) who are employed at the base to go back and forth each day.

When Castro heard that Cindy "the brainless" Sheehan was coming to Cuba, he suddenly sat up in his bed and cried, "I"m dying, but I'm not that desperate!"

The very idea that 12 adults would be so delusional as to think that "calling for" the closing of this prison will actually do anything is laughable. If you really examine the idea of "protesting" in this manner it becomes apparent how utterly pointless and absurd it is. And it says a lot about the so-called protesters.

"Arriving in the same group was former Army Col. Ann Wright, who resigned over the war in Iraq."

Wright resigned from the state dept., not the Army. Just to make it clear, as the author tries to obfuscate. Imagine, being too far left for the state dept.
