The executive director of the Sacramento chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations said he believes a death threat against him was fueled by Senator Barbara Boxer’s actions.
Boxer had commended Basim Elkarra’s chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations for the group’s efforts to improve relations between Christians, Jews, minority groups and the FBI. Her officer later rescinded the award after investigating an on-line report that accused Elkarra’s group of terrorist sympathies.
While investigating the accusations, Boxer learned two former CAIR members were sentenced to prison for crimes related to terrorist groups, according to her communications director, Natalie Ravaitz. Ravaitz said CAIR had also refused to label Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations.
Elkarra claims Boxer was misinformed and has caved into the rise of Islamophobia in the United Stated.
"It empowers the extremists. Just recently we saw a video that came out, talking about open season on Muslims. It's all over the Internet and people are bragging about killing Muslims. This has to stop. It's unacceptable. Islamophobia is real, it's here and we have to make sure our elected officials speak out against it."
CAIR maintains it opposes terrorist activities and Elkarra said the people Boxer gathered her information from are extremists themselves, but anti-Muslim.
"She was quoting from these individuals from Florida who have these hate and extreme right-wing Websites and she also consulted with anti-Muslim bigots. It's really unfortunately she didn't contact us and see our side of the story."
Elkarra received his death threat through e-mail, and the FBI is now conducting an investigation.

Sorry but I am devoid of sympathy........ Me too I have none for them at all. I am sick of all their complaining and whining. Maybe they should all head towards Mecca and stay there.
Wow, for once Barbara Boxer did something that didn't make me want to puke.
I haven't seen the anti-moslem video the CAIR spokesman is complaining about, but unfortunately I have seen Daniel Pearl and others being brutally murdered by moslems in videos that I have yet to hear CAIR condemn.

They even like GWB a little more because he stands up to them, to an extent. It's a weird disconnect. Or, as I like to say, "We're dealing with Klingons, people."

funny, cause i have been watching videos for years made by muslims calling for the death of americans and the destruction of america. but i guess that doesn't really count, huh?

Human nature being what it is, as there are those muslims who will kill non-muslims, so too are there non-muslims who will kill muslims. It is a logical conclusion. That there has not been a large scale retaliation from the non-muslim against the muslim is a testament to the higher order of civility and decency of the non-muslim. Daily it is seen that the muslim countries are violent and repressive. Sexist and archaic. They seemingly delight in slaughtering one another over a centuries old schism. It is as if the "religion" requires an underlying mental disorder to fully root in a human's brain.
Now, here's an odd grouping. CAIR was doing the above? How, and why?
And why would dumb as a box Babs be giving an award for these "efforts?" I can't make sense of it at all...

I could CAIR less about this guys's feelings...He'll learn that Americans will not bow down to ISLAM like our European "Allies" have become. We WILL NOT become "dhimmis", compromisers like they want us to through their..understanding.
This understanding only means that we "understand Islam", (especially like Politically Correct Americans are Supposed to do..), but they don't want to understand us, or our society because that would involve submiting to Christian rules, and our society, and even respecting others Religious beliefs!!
Borg is a better analogy-- the individual counts for nothing, and will willingly be destroyed to further the collective, the 'resistance is futile' attitude, and the fact that all of the vaunted 'advances' of Muslim science were parasitic (incremental advances only over what was learned from India and the Roman provinces they overran), and indeed the Muslim resurgence is parasitic on our technology, using the internet, and a host of other Western and specifically American inventions against us--all make the Borg a better Star Trek analogy.
Pre-Qutb classical Islamic culture, with its stress on honor, bears a passing resemblance to the Klingons as reimaged in ST:TNG, but we're dealing with the post-Qutb mutation.
