House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid declared yesterday that "it is time to bring the war to a close" and warned President Bush that sending more U.S. troops to Iraq would be unacceptable to the Democratic majorities that have just taken over Congress.
Directly challenging Bush's wartime leadership on their second day in charge on Capitol Hill, Democrats Pelosi (Calif.) and Reid (Nev.) sent Bush a letter suggesting that, instead of starting a short-term escalation, he begin a phased withdrawal of U.S. forces in the next four to six months. The mission of remaining troops, they said, should be shifted away from combat toward more training, logistics and counterterrorism.
The newly ascendant Democrats are trying to preempt the president before he announces his new strategy. As he prepares for a nationally televised address next week, officials said, Bush is considering three main options to bolster U.S. forces in Iraq: a relatively modest deployment of fewer than 4,000 additional troops, a middle-ground alternative involving about 9,000 and, the most aggressive idea, flowing 20,000 more troops into the country.........."

But they're not going to "cut and run"...no, they aren't going to do that!
The Democrats' victory is Al Qaeda's victory....
Guess we all got taught a lesson from the one-issue conservatives that didn't see much difference between the Republicans and Democrats. Stupid voters and stupid non-voters.
Anyone that stayed home or voted for a Dem to teach the rest of us a lesson, doesn't deserve a seat at the table and they can go join their 'friends' at DU! Funny how some of the most vocal 'both parties are the same folks' disappeared and some of people bought into their kool-aid.
Getting mad all over again!
Well, they have to. Cindy She-hag is yelling at them now.
Agree 100%. May every one of them rot!
Exactly! Wish I had kept a list of names that said the two parties are alike.
They'll show up, like roaches.
Probably resting getting ready for 2008! I just decided that I am not watching the State of the Union because Pelosi will be sitting next to Cheney right behind the President. I will listen not watch!
Wake me when something unexpected occurs.
Guess you could say 'once a roach, always a roach!' Perfect term for them!
I saw the botox picture and decided radio or reading would keep my blood pressure at a normal level. :) I cannot feature looking at the TV screen and seeing her all the time. UGH!
Well, are we going to just sit back and do nothing, or are we going to start the phone calls, faxes and e-mails to the "newly elected congress"? We have to at least be as loud as the moonbats. If we keep silent they will surely do as they please. They claim that one call represents a thousand people. We should be able to muster up a few thousand calls. Tell the dipsticks that we DON'T WANT ANOTHER VIET NAM and will not stand for interference with the President's leadership.
Pelosi, Reid Urge Bush To Begin Iraq Pullout
Shocking! Absolutely shocking!
Where is that pic of Bush flipping the bird?
Never more appropriate.
Let them dems wail!
Bush is President. Reagan never had help from dems and never had a republican congress during the cold war afterall.
That is right for those districts that still have conservative
reps. These new Dems that ran against the war and were elected, they already made their beds. I don't believe they would be responsive at all, and especially so to anything not
from their district.
Sigh, Ain't it the truth!
