BRANDEIS' SELF-HATE
NY Post ^ | January 5, 2007 | STEPHEN SCHWARTZ

BRANDEIS University, America's most famous Jewish-founded institution of higher education, seems to love hiring Islamic radicals.

I wrote about the school's employment of Palestinian radical Khalil Shikaki in these pages back in February. Now meet Professor Natana J. DeLong-Bas - a strident defender of Saudi-style extremist Muslim ideology, who's just gone on record denying that Osama bin Laden was behind the 9/11 attacks.

A visiting lecturer in Judaic and Near Eastern Studies at Brandeis since 2005, DeLong-Bas actually teaches Islamic Studies courses. (She's also an adjunct professor in theology across town at Boston College.)

Her 2004 book, "Wahhabi Islam," calls the ultra-fundamentalist Saudi state religion a positive trend "for the revival and reinterpretation of Islam in the 21st century." Indeed, she depicts the deviant doctrine behind al Qaeda as anti-jihad, benevolent and even feminist.

In an interview on the book, she actually claimed that Ibn Abd al-Wahhab - the founder of the Saudi death cult - held "a vision of Islam that included tolerance and respect for Judaism and Christianity . . . The future of Wahhabi Islam is one of hope."

This is a whopper on a level with calling the Spanish Inquisition a friend of the Jews. True, Ibn Abd Al-Wahhab tended to ignore Jews and Christians - because neither group had a presence in the wild desert of eastern Arabia from which he emerged. His focus was on Muslims who didn't agree with his theological views - he called for their murder, and his followers shed the blood of Shia Muslims (among others) in rivers. Later Wahhabis simply applied the same bloody logic to non-Muslims.

But last week DeLong-Bas topped herself. In a Dec. 26 interview, she told the Saudi

Liberal guilt still goes a long way. Nothing like questioning everything and knowing nothing. It's the best!

Yes, just so. This beastly woman also teaches at Boston College. Evidently Brandeis wants to be, among Jewish colleges, what Boston College is among Catholic colleges--famous for heresy, self-hatred, and dissent from its founding principles.

Speaking of religious colleges denying their heritage, we should remember that another college in the area, Harvard, was founded by Massachusetts Bay Puritans.

When I was at Holy Cross we did an exchange where they sent our religion department a rabbi for one semester, and we sent theirs a Jesuit. Of course, the Cross was always a lot more conservative than BC, but I remember my friends who took the class being suprised at how much the rabbi seemed to loathe Israel. And this was almost 20 years ago.

I despise Harvard. My sister went there for her master's degree; one year after completing her studies there, I'm still working on deprogramming her.

Once again the world is primed to hear the whining and crying after their brethren are pushed into gas chambers and ovens.

What ever happened to "NEVER AGAIN!"?

When are the 'victims' going to learn that appeasement is not the answer?

Why are 'intellectuals', so friggin' DUMB????

KHALIL SHIQAQI (SHIKAKI)

Shiqaqi (Shikaki)

  • Co-founder of the World Islam Study Enterprise
  • Brother of Palestinian Islamic Jihad founder Fathi Shiqaqi

Khalil Shiqaqi was a founding member – along with Sami Al-Arian, Mazen al Najjar, and Ramadan Abdullah Shallah – of the World Islam Study Enterprise (WISE). WISE was an Islamic think tank that sponsored events around the United States featuring speakers like Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman, who was later convicted for his role as the mastermind of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. WISE was shut down in 1995 after some of its founders were arrested for ties to terrorism or were deported.

Shiqaqi is the brother of Fathi Shiqaqi, the founder of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which is responsible for killing over 100 people in Israel. Fathi Shiqaqi was assassinated by Israel in 1995.

Khalil Shiqaqi now owns the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research and is an associate professor of political science at Bir Zeit University.

At one time I worked in Waltham, and would walk by Brandeis at lunch.

What a shame.

Brandeis should not be identified as a "Jewish" school - there is nothing Jewish about it. I had a job interview many years ago with them and I have a PH.D. in Hispanic-Judaic Studies so OF COURSE they did not hire me. They go out of their way not to hire Jews who write about Jewish literature.

BC has gotten too good. Strangely, the last time they played HC had Gordie Lockbaum, and they almost pulled it off.

Isn't Brandeis part of the the movment to assimilate into the national culture? Liberalism seems to a kind of religion for some.

More evidence that Liberalism (the current variety) is a form of mental illness.

And I was using this phrase on the forum before Michael Savage "coined" it.

After being in and out of college since 1974, the answer is simple. Most of the professors and academics who have taught me hate the United States, hate capitalism, and hate the values of Western civilization. Some of those profs have simply stated those convictions that baldly, too. When you come to the table with that kind of bias, hiring an Islamic radical is simply "balance."

I stop using it anyway. Savage is an embarassment. You don't want to associate yourself with him.

Yes, I agree that he is an embarrassment.

But, based on observation of family members who embrace the Liberal Left, it is an accurate observation.

BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) is a subset of this malady.

I am sincere when I tell you that these are not mentally healthy individuals.

I wll also admit that, once I left that end of the political spectrum, my mental health and outlook improved considerably.

There is too much cognitive dissonance between leftist ideology and reality for a person to be mentally healthy.
