It looks like the Republicans have found their theme for the next two years of Democratic control of Congress. A slew of press releases from the GOP yesterday focused on the spectre of tax-raising by Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and their controlling caucuses. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney became the first top-level Republican primary candidate to sign the Tax Pledge, joining most of the Republican caucuses in Congress:
Seeking to broaden his appeal as a presidential candidate beyond those Republicans attracted by his reputation as a social conservative, Governor Romney is making a play for economic conservatives by focusing on taxes.
Moments before Mr. Romney, whose term as governor ended this week, entered the offices of his presidential exploratory committee for the first time as a private citizen, he warned that the new Democratic Congress would succumb to raising taxes.

Gov. Romney is a very nice man. I think he is a gentleman.
Trouble for me is this: I really don't know what he believes.

Do yourself a favor and do your own research on Romney. There are paid anti-Romney FReepers on this forum. Find out about him on your own.

As of today none, but its not yet 10:00AM EST. Big Dig started waaaaay before Romney was in office. To give you an idea, it was during the Reagan Administration when the Federal Government approved some of the funding.

No to Rudy, Romney or McCain.Romney is far and a away the best of the three.
So if not him, or Rudy or McCain, then who?
If you are able to make a positive recommendation for a viable alternative candidate, I'm sure we will all be happy to hear it.

I fully intend to name them, at the time when it will do maximum damage to the McCain campaign.

Thanks.
I was merely expressing an opinion, not soliciting information on the governor.

Tancredo, Barbour or Purdue are all much better.
We have a year before primary season to get them get better known.
Haley Barbour is my choice but he will have to be drafted.
He shows the huge difference between a State that bore the brunt of the hurricane and rebuilt and a democrat state that is still crying for billions from the FEDS.

I understand. I just wanted to caution you to not believe everything you read on this forum, as it has become a political sandbox for the uniformed.

"Governor Romney is making a play for economic conservatives by focusing on taxes."
How's about GOVT SPENDING?? If you indulge in that, its only a matter of time before taxes have to be raised.

PD: I anxiously await that point. I sure it's a ways away but be sure to ping me when that list comes out.
As for right now:
Allen seems to have pretty well shot himself in the foot
Newt bugs me
Rudy scares me
and McCain horrifies me.
Romney has his negatives but nothing like the others so I'm not sure about him.
If Bob Ehrlich would run I 'd get on his side but that's very unlikely.
