To quote Jimmy Durante: everybody's trying to get into the act.
At the "Today" show, it's not enough anymore to be subjected to the liberal preaching of Vieira, Lauer and Curry. Now weatherman Al Roker wants to harangue us, too. Roker had been off for a few days, and this morning we found out why:
"We were in South Africa at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy. Life changing. Good for her. She's done such an amazing job."
Wonderful. Good. Glad to hear it. But Al didn't stop there
"And to the people who are castigating her: boo on you. If you've done as much as she's done, very nice. But if you didn't: shut up."

My goodness. You'd think Oprah was a horribly maligned and vilified figure; an object of pity. Last time I looked she was one of the most adored, popular, influential people in America. Oh, and a billionaire to boot. But Al would place her off limits for criticism unless we're a walking combination of Mother Teresa and the Gates Foundation?

Oprah asked American kids what they wanted and they said video games, IPods and expensive sneakers. The kids is Africa answered with books and uniforms for school. So who wants to get an education more? I say it was money well spent and I am no fan of Oprah.
Roker sounds like the mindless clones that support Benny Hinn and Paul Crouch.
Oprah said that? African kids want an AK and a crowbar to break into rich people's houses to get what they want.
Books and uniforms. Sheesh!!
Back around 1998-99 I heard Roker ganging up on Jerry Falwell one morning with some comment like "what's he been drinking" in response to Matt and Katie's comments.
I've never liked Roker since.
I guess Roker is Bryant Grumble's kind of weatherman instead of good old Willard Scott.
Heck I think I saw Grumble on the set this morning when I walked past the TV because of the "Matt Lauer 10th Anniversary" hype.
Roker knows when to bend his knee to keep his job. I wonder if he carries Matt Lauer's bags when they travel together.

Of course lets not forget that Oprah will give them a "liberal" education in the worst sense of the word.
She talked about making girls into "future leaders" and all that when the BBC did an interview with her about that school.
I suspect a school with a humanist liberal (Or her own expression "secular progressive") like her behind it will come up with scandal a few years down the road. So stay tuned.
how to win viewers Al
fact is Al, many of us have - its way too easy to appease your conscience by throwing dollars at a problem (real or percieved), rather the true gifts are those that last eternally.......I dont see that at the altar of Oprah
The self promotion is nauseating
Sean Hannity was singing the same tune during his show yesterday. I don't think he's that big an Oprah fan, either.
oprah is tired of wasting her money here in the US......it always has failed........this is the big truth that SHE won't quite say, and that others don't want to be known.
I fergit which race pimp keeps saying "keep hope alive", but oprah hopes for a positive result in the real world
call me whatever, now....
Just sticking up for the sista...
Yep, she's disgusted with the entitlement mentality of the kids here. Which is great and true - just wish she would realize who gave them that attitude in the first place.
Roker was a black Willard Scott clone who never quite lived up to what he was hired for. He was hired as a token and has pretty much proved to be not up to par as weatherman or entertainer who gives the weather.
How true is that? Isn't Oprah the one who gives her entire audience oppulent gifts like cars and other trinkets? Does that create a truly grateful attitude, or does it create a huge demand for freeloaders, clamoring to get tickets on her show?
Can't stand Oprah. Can't stand Al.
"I became so frustrated with visiting inner-city schools that I just stopped going. The sense that you need to learn just isn't there. If you ask the kids what they want or need, they will say an iPod or some sneakers. In South Africa, they don't ask for money or toys. They ask for uniforms so they can go to school."
The MSM is a cannibal dead man walking. Starved by eating their own. Either we are equal or we are not. Good people ought to be armed where they will, with wits and guns.
I wonder if he's a liberal kook?
