This was under the radar, and I can't find anything posted about TREA here. A representative was interviewed on local conservative talk radio this afternoon and talked about this proposed agreement. She said that when they got their FOIA request, practically everything was redacted, hence the court battle.

The Totalization Agreement can be downloaded in .pdf format, and I haven't taken the time to plow through all this but thought freepers might want to know about it.

There was something about it on WND, then by today, several of the mainstream papers had picked it up, don't recall which ones.

If freepers think it worthwhile, please get some discussion going about it; I simply don't have the time nor the energy to delve into the nuts and bolts of it.

We have talked about the totalization agreement here at FR in the past so it isn't a big surprise.

The Congressional Research Service reports the earnings suspense file currently stands at approximately $520 billion. According to the congressional testimony of SSA Inspector General Patrick P. O'Carroll in February 2006, "We believe the chief cause of wage items being posted to the earnings suspense file instead of an individual's earning record is unauthorized work by non citizens."

That figure seems low... I would be asked for 5 forms of ID and a DNA test before I could collect SS benefits.

If they are illegal how could they use a SS number for work?? Or if they did who's number was it, and how can they prove how much they put in.

No one will agree but my solution to solving this and other illegal immigration problems would be to grant duel citizenship(Mexican citizenship/American citizenship) to all U.S. and Mexican residents. They could move up here but we could move down there. Mexico could become a super California. We could be build subdivisions, retirement communities, golf courses, malls, factories and American restaurants. We could create enough good jobs down there that there would be no need for the poor Mexicans to swim the river. I know this is a pipe dream now but there is evidence the U.S. government is moving in this direction.

More treason...

FAct #1 - Illegals have no account with SS. IF any SS taxes were paid by them (their employer) it was under a false or stolen SS number.

Fact #2 - If I lie to receive SS benefits, I go to jail, and for certain never receive those benefits

Fact #3 - Who's account will be robbed to pay these criminals?

I personally want an investigation opened into those who pushed for this "deal" (not a deal for US taxpayers).

IF anything should be done other than keeping the funds in the system to keep it solvent, then it should be used to pay some of the infrastructure costs and other costs to society by these illegals.

An "Agreement" seems to imply that a mutually-compatible deal was reached, each side giving up something in exchange for something. So I have a simple question: in exchange for giving our tax money to some Mexican citizens, what did we receive?

This should be considered grounds for impeachment.
