We received in theory 20 Million new depositors of Social Security, aka illegals.

To which the obvious answer is, We were gonna get those anyway :)

No kidding.

I guess we should all learn Spanish now so we can aommincate with our new fellow "citizens" since they demonstrate no inclination to learn English and the governmnet isn't even willing to require that slight concession.

This should be considered grounds for impeachment.

Except that won't be the case at all. A number of those will be added to the Social Security burden perhaps bringing us closer to insolubility faster. They can't be certain the "out of the shadows" workers will shore up that broken system.

The bad thing is that there is nobody out there worth voting for. The republicans only pay lip service to the conservatives. This is a nation run by a country-club full of scumbag sell-out lawyers.

Thank you for the info. I just switched to a new carrier, so will see what that brings. I've always tried to pay my own way. If I can afford a few nice things, I can afford to pay so somebody else doesn't have to even though there are some programs I could qualify for.

I saved the info because sometimes my daughter has trouble getting her seizure medication which is very expensive and sometimes they run out of funding and for other family members. My grandson needs to carry some bee sting med because he is horribly allergic to them and can't afford whatever it is. I told him to go to the emergency room right away if he gets stung, what else can he do? He's legal. Maybe this info you gave me could help him with that if and until he gets on his feet.

I got behind on my utility bills because things are a little flaky the last couple months, called to make arrangements to pay so I wouldn't get a shutoff notice. At the end, she asked me if I wanted the number to apply for assistance. No. Politely. There are other people out there who need it worse than I do.

I feel a little guilty even collecting social security and going on medicare since I know the system is in trouble, but I had ins probs for years before that, they didn't want to touch me because of my history. The irony is that even though my health has been up and down, I don't think I've cost one insurance company one dime since my divorce in early 1973, was covered through work for some years, no claims, paid my own way for more years including one expensive outpatient surgery. I skipped the $8000 one, am still here. Just one company the last couple years picked up a little off my prescriptions before I got on to medicare. The county did pay for quite a bit when I had my last breakdown, no ins coverage for any of that. Before my divorce, I did have several hospitalizations for babies and breakdowns.

Now that I am on medicare, I will try not to abuse it and use services that aren't absolutely necessary.

You never know what the future will bring though. I will pay my own way as long as I can. If others are abusing the various programs, and I know some are, that is their problem and our problem to not let invaders take away from our own. That is what is happening now to mine. My granddaughter finally got ins, so does her boyfriend. Before that, she had to cough up the cash or it would give her bad credit which affects her student loan. Illegals were getting better medical care than some citizens. But no one is really turned away like the libs like to chant. She really needs some non-cosmetic dental work done. That is not covered. I don't know what illegals do about the dentist; it's mostly hospital emergency rooms that have caused some to shut down & probs. Some hospitals charge more to insured patients to make up for the uninsured who can't pay, I can't prove it, but have heard it talked about enough to know something is up there.

I didn't post the article to bash Bush, although some things he does make me shake my head. The Hispanics are likely to go Dem anyway, so why try to curry their favor? They will be a significant power bloc in the future, and our children and grandchildren are going to have to deal with it. They will remember who didn't want them here, many are here to stay now whether we like it or not, and I fear they will take it out on the rest of us if they get sufficient political power.

But we sure as h don't need to send illegally gotten gains to Mexico. Enough is enough.

You and I are really on the same page here. We want deserving people to get the assistance they need and it reflect on those around us as well as the question of immigration.

Please tell anybody about the pharmaceutical program. The drug company's try to do good things and don't get the credit for it.

In a better world the Mexican government would be better care of its own people and 10 percent of the Mexican population wouldn't be coming here.

I worry about my kids (and their future kids) too.

So true about credit. I started applying for one med through some program, but the med backfired on me bigtime, that was the end of that one. Hope I don't need this, but I printed out a couple copies so I wouldn't lose them and will pass the word along because I didn't know a thing about it.

Thank you so much. It is good to know that such a program is available and wonderful of the drug companies to help. It's not just the poor now. Some middle class people have to take very expensive drugs. I usually go for the generic if there is one, but some are so new, there won't be one for a long time.
