I don't. I'm just saying that the Spanish conquest of the Hispañola was carried out in the name of spreading Christianity and it resulted in the extermination of the island's native population.

Maybe some Islamic tendencies rubbed off on them.

Or maybe it was the anti-Muslim and anti-Jewish blood zeal of the (Christian) Reconquista that rubbed off on the conquistadores.

Back to the main topic, not all Muslims are any more of a threat to this country than any other American. The September 11th people were neither Americans nor immigrants, but rather people who overstayed their visas.

• The island was taken over to expand Spanish territory--though evangelizing to the natives did have a role.
• There are two main cases of forced "conversion" to Christianity, the two mentioned here, the Spanish and the Portugeuse. In contrast, forced conversion seems to have been the modus operandi for Islam. Other Roman Catholics, such as the French in New France, did not proselytize by force. Protestants on the Atlantic seaboard didn't either. Only the Spanish and the Portugeuse. And those two had just finished expelling the Muslims from their respective countries (as they were almost flushed up past the Pyrenees a few centuries earlier). The Iberians were set apart from other nominally Christian nations in how they tried to turn the native population to Christianity, and in their situation during the Dark Ages. Opinion: the two are related.
