That is odd. I suppose they might have cleared the property and not found him. But they know who he is and will look for him elsewhere.

A student tells a local TV station that the shooter is a white male but that has not been confirmed.

Police are investigating a possible motive as well. They say there was some kind of fight that preceded the shooting.

Ya know, when I was in school we'd have loaded shot guns - in the open on headache racks - in our unlocked pickups with the windows rolled down - parked in the school parking lot and there was never a school shooting. It's only been since all this PC gun control bs and schools' knee jerk zero tolerance policies that we've had all these problems.

One student who called the KOMO newsroom said he was herded into the gym with fellow students were placed in lockdown. He said the principal came in to inform them that a student had been shot.

Jacki Phongsavath is a junior at the school and said the shooting happened about 7:30 a.m. around the corner from where he was standing.

"I thought it was fireworks, but it was probably three shots," he said. "I looked around the corner and saw someone laying on the ground and blood on the lockers."

He said that the victim was male, but didn't know who the shooter was.

I went to high school not so very far away from the school in this story. I was on the rifle team, and we kept the rifles at the school, cleaned them there, and carried them all over. Nobody thought anything of it.

The State of Washington bans individuals with right-to-carry licenses from carrying on school property except when dropping off students or picking them up. The law is worded so vaguely that such individuals are in jeopardy any time they even come near a school.

Unfortunately, criminals don't bother agonizing over this law trying to determine whether what they are doing is "legal".

That's true. A particularly idiotic portion of the law, in a state with many such examples.

I'm sure the "Governor" will get right on this.

At least these LE learned not to be wusses like the ones at Columbine.

To be fair to the LEOs from Columbine, they were not trained to handle an active shooter situation.

Now almost all P.D. have this training, and it is because of the hell that the community of Columbine went through, that we get that training now.

A buddy of mine teaches Jr. ROTC at Foss HS in Tacoma. He said that all of his cadets are OK, but he doesn't know who the slain student was.

We need to throw more taxpayer money at the public schools right now to put an end to this violence once and for all. (s)

This must be a false story or something. Everybody knows there are laws against guns being in schools.

Pierce county is a rough place. Lots of gangs: White, black, Mexican/Latino, and significant Asian groups - all heavily armed, all very dangerous.
