ALMATY, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Danial Akhmetov has resigned, forcing the entire government to step down, a government source told Reuters on Monday.
"The prime minister has resigned," the source said, giving no reason for Akhmetov's resignation.
Kazakhstan, in Central Asia, is rich in oil and gas which it pumps mainly to the West.

Somali officials said Monday they had captured a jungle hideout used by Islamic militants that is believed to be an al-Qaeda base.
"We have captured Ras Kamboni," Somali lawmaker Abdirashid Hidig told The Associated Press, speaking of the base at the southernmost tip of Somalia. (AP)
