British nationals accused of funding Islamist fighters in Horn of Africa
10 January 2007

British and American nationals are fighting with Islamist militias in Somalia and the fundamentalist movement is being chiefly funded by sympathisers in the UK, it has been claimed.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the country's transitional government accused Britain of being the main source of money and men for the fighters of the Islamic Courts Union (ICU).

Hussain Mohammed Aideed said: "The ICU's main support was coming from London, paying cash to the ICU against the government. Those who died in the war with the ICU were British passport-holders and American passport-holders. "

ICE Removes Israeli Citizen Convicted for Export Violations
Alien Convicted of Attempting to Export High-Tech Defense Equipment to Hezbollah

WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation officers last night removed an Israeli citizen who had served a six-month prison term in New York for conspiracy to export sensitive military technology to a Lebanon-based terrorist group.

Tomer Grinberg, 33, was found guilty in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York last April of being a co-conspirator in attempting to ship night-vision goggles and infrared aiming scopes to Hezbollah, whose publicly stated goals include destruction of the state of Israel.

On May 19, 2004, Grinberg and a co-conspirator were arrested as they prepared to ship the restricted military equipment to Greece for recipient Hezbollah without obtaining proper licenses for the shipment.

Grinberg, of Na'Ria, Israel, was released into ICE custody for removal after completing his criminal sentence at the federal correctional institution in Allenwood, Pa., on Dec. 28. During his sentence, ICE put Grinberg into removal proceedings and an immigration judge ordered him removed last November.

In fiscal year 2006, ICE removed 190,349 illegal aliens including 87,888 with criminal convictions.

“Identifying and removing criminal aliens is one of the keys to protecting national security and promoting public safety in Pennsylvania and throughout the country,” said Thomas Decker, ICE Field Office Director in Philadelphia. “Last year, of the 3,572 illegal aliens removed through the Philadelphia field office, nearly 70% had criminal convictions.”

Grinberg was identified through an ICE Office of Detention and Removal's Criminal Alien Program (CAP). The program focuses on identifying criminal aliens who are incarcerated federal, state and local facilities and ensuring that they are not released into the community by securing a final order of removal before the termination of their sentence. Since June, ICE has processed more than 4,337 inmates in federal prisons eligible for removal.

Grinberg was escorted by ICE deportation officers and arrived in Tel Aviv at 5:30 a.m. (local) today where he was met by Israeli authorities.

The MASSACRE at DAMOUR (31st Anniversary posting)
Cedarland ^ | Ghost writer

Posted on 01/09/2007 6:36:20 PM PST by abu afak

""....On 9 January 1976, three days after Epiphany, the priest of Damour Father Mansour Labaky, was carrying out a Maronite custom of blessing the houses with holy water. As he stood in front of a house on the side of the town next to the Muslim village of Harat Na’ami, a bullet whistled past his ear and hit the house. Then he heard the rattle of machine-guns. He went inside the house, and soon learned that the town was surrounded. Later he found out by whom and how many — the forces of Sa’iqa, consisting of 16,000 Palestinians and Syrians, and units of the Mourabitoun and some fifteen other militias, reinforced by mercenaries from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and a contingent of Libyans.....

Father Labaky telephoned the Muslim sheikh of the district and asked him, as a fellow religious leader, what he could do to help the people of the town. ‘I can do nothing,’ he was told ‘They want to harm you. It is the Palestinians. I cannot stop them.' While the shooting and some shelling went on all day, Father Labaky telephoned a long list of people, politicians of both the Left and the Right, asking for help. They all said with apologies and commiserations that they could do nothing. Then he telephoned Kamal Jumblatt, in whose parliamentary constituency Damour lay. ‘Father,’ Jumblatt said, ‘I can do nothing for you, because it depends on Yasser Arafat.’ He gave Arafat’s phone number to the priest.

[...]

""...In all, 582 people were killed in the storming of Damour. Father Labaky went back with the Red Cross to bury them. Many of the bodies had been dismembered, so they had to count the heads to number the dead. Three of the men they found had had their genitals cut off and stuffed into their mouths.

The horror did not end there, the old Christian cemetery was also destroyed, coffins were dug up, the dead robbed, vaults opened, and bodies and skeletons thrown across the grave yard. Damour was then transformed into a stronghold of Fatah and the PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine). The ruined town became one of the main PLO centres for the promotion of international terrorism. The Church of St Elias was used as a repair garage for PLO vehicles and also as a range for shooting-practice with targets painted on the eastern wall of the nave.

The commander of the combined forces which descended on Damour on 23 January 1976 was Zuhayr Muhsin, chief of al-Sa’iqa, known since then throughout Christian Lebanon as 'the Butcher of Damour'. He was assassinated on 15 July 1979 at Cannes in the South of France..."""

China admits fear of Muslim terror as police kill 18 in mountain battle

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,25689-2539374,00.html

China revealed the depth of its fear of Islamic-linked violence yesterday when police disclosed that they had killed 18 terrorists and captured another 17 after a fierce battle at a secret training camp in a remote northwestern region.

It was the first time that China had announced the discovery of such a camp in its territory. Officials said that they had uncovered links between the activists and international terrorist groups, hinting at connections to al-Qaeda.

The clash in the Pamir mountains on Friday was one of the deadliest for years in the restive Xinjiang Uighur autonomous region, where 8.5 million Muslims make up most of the population. One policeman was killed and a second wounded.

There are 20 million Muslims in China; 8.5 million live in Xinjiang

Map at the link shows that the Muslim region is near Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"Extremist group's booking cancelled"
Wednesday Jan 10 15:29 AEDT

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "An extremist Muslim group has had its conference booking cancelled by a Sydney council after previously breaching an agreement not to incite hatred, racism and discrimination.

The group, Hizb ut-Tahrir has been linked to the London bombings and banned by several European and Middle Eastern countries, according to News Limited reports.

Hizb ut-Tahrir had booked the Bankstown Town Hall in Sydney's south-west for the Khilafa conference on January 27 under the name Risala, a Bankstown Council spokeswoman said.

"The program is not being done by Risala, but by a group called Hizb ut-Tahrir," she said."

Liquor store owner shoots, kills a robber (FL)
The Miami Herald ^ | January 9, 2007 | EVAN S. BENN and DAVID OVALLE

Posted on 01/09/2007 8:57:42 PM PST by DaveLoneRanger

Liquor store owner Pedro Agudelo fights hard to protect his West Gables business.

Outside, a handful of surveillance cameras are in plain sight. Inside, Agudelo keeps a loaded gun handy.

He used it tonight, shooting dead a would-be robber.

And it's not the first time he's shot someone trying to steal from his store.

On a weekend afternoon in 2001, Agudelo opened fire on a gunman just outside LeJeune Liquors, 930 SW 42nd Ave. The would-be robber, who was never named by police, survived and Agudelo never faced any charges.

Agudelo said at the time: ``I'm just a working guy, a victim of a crime, and I fought back, and that's all.''

About an hour before closing time tonight, Agudelo, 63, fought back again when a man walked into his store, pulled out his gun and demanded cash. Agudelo opened up the cash register, but instead of handing over the money, he pulled out a gun from behind the counter, Miami-Dade police said.

Agudelo then called 911, but the would-be robber was dead at the scene. Police have not released the identity of the dead man or said how many times he was shot.

Florida's new Stand Your Ground'' law allows anyone who feels threatened to shoot -- even if they don't see a gun.

''It's self-defense. He's not going to be charged,'' said Miami-Dade Det. Roy Rutland, a police spokesman.

The most recent public records show Agudelo had a concealed weapons permit that expired in 2005. It was unclear tonight if Agudelo had renewed his gun permit.

Attempts to reach the Agudelo family after the shooting were unsuccessful.

A half-hour after the shooting took place, Bernadette Spade pulled up in front of the liquor store to meet Pedro Agudelo and his wife Silvia.

She described her friends as animal lovers and great people, and defended Agudelo's decision to shoot at the robber.

''I think he has a right to protect himself. Absolutely,'' she told WFOR-CBS4. ``You can't just go running over people like that.''
