At this hour, federal and state agencies continue to serve search warrants on at least three Northern Kentucky properties. Officials say the investigation surrounds the sale of counterfeit DVDs. The agencies involved include the FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and the Kentucky State Police.
For almost five hours and counting, they have been not only at the home on Woodview Drive in Edgewood, but also two businesses belonging to the homeowners. Agents carried out boxes of DVDs and weapons from the Greenup Market in Covington as well as at McIntosh Carryout in Newport.
The businesses and the home are owned by the Zubaidi family, who, according neighbors, have immigrated to the United States. Neighbors also say they've lived in the home for several years and have a young son together. In Newport, a man who did not want his face shown says something didn't ever appear right at the store. "I don't know what they sell in there, but I know a lot of people go in and out with nothing in their hands. Normally when you go into a store you leave with a pack of cigarettes, a soda, or something," the man said.
A spokesperson for the FBI says they can only confirm they are serving federal search warrants, but because the affidavits are court sealed, specifics can't be mentioned.

Apologies for the double post (hiccup)
I did a general search for the name "Zubaidi" and 99% of the return hits came up as it being a Arabic name as opposed to, oh, Swedish, or, um, Finnish.
OPINION: Mullah Omar does seem to walk/talk freely.
Well now, that's interesting Oorang.
Thank you.
Sorry to hear you are getting troublesome emails.

Thousands attend Taliban funeral
Friday, January 19, 2007
ISLAMABAD: Thousands of mourners, including militants with assault rifles, attended a funeral on Thursday in a Pakistani tribal village for a Taliban fighter allegedly killed in a NATO raid in Afghanistan, witnesses said.
About 4,000 people attended the funeral in the North Waziristan regions Eidak village, said a local tribesman who attended the service. He declined to give his name, citing concerns for his own safety. Mourners included hundreds of militants with long hair and beards, who arrived in dozens of pickup trucks with dark, tinted windows.

IRAN NUCLEAR: DELEGATION TRAVELS TO NORTH KOREA, PRESIDENT ENDORSES PROGRAMME

IRAN NUCLEAR: DELEGATION TRAVELS TO NORTH KOREA, PRESIDENT ENDORSES PROGRAMME
Tehran, 18 Jan. (AKI) - An Iranian delegation headed by deputy foreign minister Mehdi Safari travelled to the North Korean capital Pyongyang on Thursday. No details were given on the trip to North Korea, a close partner of the Islamic Republic in the military and industrial sectors. Meanwhile in Tehran, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the government was successfully pursuing its nuclear programme despite international pressure to halt it.
Speaking during a visit to the newsroom of Iran, a daily published by the Iranian state broadcaster, Ahmadinejad said Thursday that "attempts to halt the Iranian nuclear programme with the approval of resolutions by international organizations have been a total failure."
On 23 December, the Security Council voted unanimously to impose sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme - a move long called for by the US. The international community fears Iran's programme is aimed at building atomic weapons. Iran denies this, insisting its programme is solely for civilian use.
The resolution bans trade with Iran in all items, materials, equipment, goods and technology which could contribute to such activities or to the development of nuclear weapon delivery systems. States are also required to prevent the provision to Iran of any technical assistance or training, financial assistance, investment, brokering or other services.
On Monday, government spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham announced the "installation of 3,000 centrifuges or even more in the immediate future to start producing enriched uranium on an industrial scale." Uranium enrichment can be used to make nuclear weapons but Iran claims it is solely aimed at generating electricity.

"Hillary's team has questions about Obama's Muslim background"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Are the American people ready for an elected president who was educated in a Madrassa as a young boy and has not been forthcoming about his Muslim heritage?
This is the question Sen. Hillary Rodham Clintons camp is asking about Sen. Barack Obama.
An investigation of Mr. Obama by political opponents within the Democratic Party has discovered that Mr. Obama was raised as a Muslim by his stepfather in Indonesia. Sources close to the background check, which has not yet been released, said Mr. Obama, 45, spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia.
"He was a Muslim, but he concealed it," the source said. "His opponents within the Democrats hope this will become a major issue in the campaign."
When contacted by Insight, Mr. Obamas press secretary said he would consult with his boss and call back. He did not."

Mexico catches alleged drug cartel chief

MEXICO CITY - Authorities on Wednesday announced the capture of a purported drug cartel leader, the first major drug arrest under the administration of President Felipe Calderon, who has pledged a nationwide war against the drug trade.
Pedro Diaz Parada was arrested in the country's southern state of Oaxaca on Tuesday and taken to Mexico City. He faces charges of organized crime and drug trafficking, the attorney general's office said in a news release.
Prosecutors say Diaz Parada founded the cartel named after him in Mexico's southeastern region.
Federal police and soldiers stopped the sport utility vehicle in which Diaz Parada was riding, and found an assault rifle and 20 bags of marijuana inside, authorities said.
While little is known about Diaz Parada, photos of him supplied by the Attorney General's Office showed a graying, haggard-looking man dressed simply in jeans and a short-sleeve shirt.
Calderon took office on Dec. 1, and almost immediately ordered massive raids by federal police and soldiers in states where rival trafficking gangs have engaged in shootouts, executions and even beheadings in recent months.

FEDERAL OFFICIALS SAY TRAIN CREW ACTED PROPERLY
Federal officials said early inspections indicate the crew of a CSX train acted properly just before it derailed and ignited a massive chemical fire that forced evacuations south of Louisville. A small fire continued yesterday afternoon, as firefighters were finishing a controlled burn of some chemicals from tanker cars. Mark Rosenker, chairman of the National Transportation and Safety Board, said investigators are inspecting the track for nicks and abrasions. He said the federal agency considers the derailment an accident.
