John Rocker Writes Book On Immigration
NBC ^ | January 2, 2007

Posted on 01/02/2007 12:37:45 PM PST by NapkinUser

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Former Major League Baseball pitcher John Rocker is starting a campaign to encourage English-speaking Americans to start demanding respect from legal and illegal immigrants who do not speak English.

Rocker is also pushing for immigrants to respect the customs, heritage and culture of the United States.

In a news release, Rocker said the "'Speak English' campaign is to encourage people to promote and support the sustainment of the American heritage and the American culture. This campaign is in no way intended to degrade or demean the cultures or heritages of others' nationalities or races, but instead to bolster American nationalism and promote pride in the American culture."

To further his cause, Rocker is selling "Speak English" T-shirts on his Web site.

In the past, Rocker has been called a racist and anti-homosexual for comments made during interviews and drawn heavy fire from New York Mets fans after comments about the city of New York.

While in the major leagues, the Georgia native was a closer for the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Rocker played his first major league game in 1998 and stepped out of baseball in 2004 to recover from shoulder surgery. In 2005 he signed with the Long Island Ducks and retired after 23 games.

Rocker's book is due out in 2008.

As you said, The man ought to at least get some moral support around here for telling the non-PC TRUTH.

Damn straight! Those decrying him as a racist r as ignorant are just reciting what the MSM told them about Rocker and are being quite intellectually dishonest.

Based on what?

Based on Rocker:

"Rocker bemoans the fact that he is not more intelligent..." -- Sports Illustrated, December 1999.

So do I, and I have an engineering degree, and am nearing completion on my masters in geotechnical engineering. I also have some published stuff. Doesn't by any streth mean a guy is dumb, in fact I hink it means quite the opposite.

Here is the original article from SI

I'll see if I can find the comments on ESPN.com about Rocker calling Jeff Pearlman a "liberal Jew" and he wasn't just describing Mr. Pearlman.

He also called Randall Simon a "Fat Monkey"....that was widely publicized, especially on sports talk radio and I will see if I can find you a link for that...but it is also in the original SI story....

I don't understand WHY you want to defend someone as insignificant to your cause as John Rocker is. He's very obviously a knucklehead, can't keep his mouth shut when it would benefit him to do so, and can't possibly help you in any way shape or form.

Then the fact you are defending it says a LOT about you.....none of it good.

What has he ever said that is untrue, or do you just accept the MSM definition of what he said?
Totally irrelevant. I wish more conservatives would understand this basic concept: If you lose the PR war, it doesn't matter whether or not you're right.

Too bad he made this statement to some PC sports writer from SI.

Good point. I admit I have never subscribed to SI however I have read articles that appeared in the magazine from time to time. They are extremely PC for the most part. According to SI all of the trouble that Alan Iverson and Randy Moss got in when they were young (high school) was because they were targeted by the local white power structure that was hell bent on destroying them. To think that I thought they were just 2 black punks who got caught. Thankfully SI informed it's readers as to what really happened.

The good news is is that Iverson and Moss have both proven their innocence by staying out of trouble and becoming true role models for young people everywhere.

"Rocker bemoans the fact that he is not more intelligent..."

Something wrong with wanting to be more intelligent? You are actually insuting someone for wanting to be more intelligent? You're not a 15 year old gang-banger are you?

And here is a story that might show that John Rocker is lying about never paying any of the fines levied against him by the MLB.....

So many on here are very quick to condemn Rocker. I agree with what he says. Its time America's heritage and culture came first. If immigrants dont like it they can go home.

Become an American or go back the hell where you came from.

Americans speak English. Americans dont carry and hoist Mexican flags, Americans dont work for Terrorists in Iraq like CAIR does.

I think Rocker got a bad rap.

If this doesn't work out for him he can always be the spokesman for the anti-NAU crowd.

Shut up and pitch.

To those supporting Rocker on this: He won't help you win the hearts and minds of others on this issue. Sorry, but that's reality. Hang around with Rockhead if you want others to think you are a numbskull. Yes, the attacks on him were disproportional, but that's what happens when you open your mouth and say stupid things. Those comments wrecked his promising career as a ballplayer. The Dixie Chicks made the same mistake.

Shut up and pitch.

So why give in, it's nevver too late to fight PC and the MSM, and why are FReepers piling on, when few know what he actually said? I'm sure most would agree if they would not be so damn lazy and actually read the quote he got skewered for.

Ain't that the truth. People around here complain about the MSM but continually let them decide the rules. Write the book Mr. Rocker and let the real truth seekers debate.
