Too bad he made this statement to some PC sports writer from SI.

Good point. I admit I have never subscribed to SI however I have read articles that appeared in the magazine from time to time. They are extremely PC for the most part. According to SI all of the trouble that Alan Iverson and Randy Moss got in when they were young (high school) was because they were targeted by the local white power structure that was hell bent on destroying them. To think that I thought they were just 2 black punks who got caught. Thankfully SI informed it's readers as to what really happened.

The good news is is that Iverson and Moss have both proven their innocence by staying out of trouble and becoming true role models for young people everywhere.

Actually, I only knew about sports during that time because both of my teenaged sons were SI subscribers(and therefore eligible for the swimsuit edition!). I did notice, and still see, that in general, sports writers are much better writers than news writers. Bill Reynolds and Kevin McNamara at ProJo are two guys whose columns I've been reading for years. The rest of that Belo rag isn't even worth a look anymore. That is sad because reading newspapers was always a great and relaxing part of my life.

There have been so many articles here at FR over the last weeks about the demise of the print media. Joel Stein of the LAT has a doozy today. What they don't seem to realize is that, while the journalists and editors are losing their jobs, the legions of readers are losing a daily ritual that was truly a gift. They will die off, and I will continue to read news on the Internet, but it just isn't the same feeling. Who is to blame for that?
