WASHINGTON Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.
As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

At 70 I'm wishing I still had all the hair I had in the 70s. And hubby, whose nearly bald, would love to have his hair back too!

The Episcopal Church (U.S.) is splitting up because of the denomination's acceptance of gay priests and bishops. Two of the oldest churches, Truro and Falls Church, which were attended by the likes of President Washington himself, have left the Episcopal denomination and joined the Nigerian Anglican Church, rather than be forced to accept homosexual priests and bishops.

I am not saying he is lying. It's just that it seemed a little out of place. And maybe the request was open to interpretation.
Enough said. Sorry for the comment.

I thought it "ODD" also for him to bring it up here (about Episcopal church problems).....but, considering their problems, maybe it isn't so odd....
Very nice service.

is it appropriate to put here? Speaking of "human sexuality" (perversion) as if that was what Ford would have wanted mentioned was totally inappropriate.

Into thy hands, O Lord, we commend they servant Gerald, our dear brother, as into the hands of a faithful Creator and most merciful Savior, beseeching thee that he may be precious in thy sight. Wash him, we pray thee, in the blood of that immaculate Lamb that was slain to take away the sins of the world; that, whatsoever defilements hemay have contracted in the midst of this eartly life being purged and done away, he may be presented pure and without spot before thee; through the merits of Jesus Christ thine only Son our Lord. Amen.

I think he was trying to make the point that even at the end of his life, Ford cared about reconciliation in the institutions he cared about most - the church and his country, for whom he had provided reconciliation in the 1970s.

I didn't listen to Brokaw because I refuse to ever again sit through anything he has to say after his debacle at OU. He took potshots at Pres Bush as well as at the graduates for not being members of the 'greatest generation.' And then said the President was selected not elected. If my son wasn't graduating, I would have have gotten up and walked out like some others.
