WASHINGTON — Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.
As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

They are still digging out down here in NM. The ABQ area schools will not reopen until next week due to 18-24 inches of snow on the ground. We aren't used to it here -- 4 to 6 inches max, but not like this.
Thanks, I'm watching it on FOX. Poor Mrs. Ford. I cannot believe she is still on her feet after all the services and ceremonies.
I took my mother (about the same age as Mrs. Ford) to Borders Books yesterday to use up some of her gift certificates, and I now have to hold her arm wherever she walks............she kept calling me "Susan" (Ford).
I'm watching her (Mrs. Ford) now. She keeps closing her eyes. I hope she's catching a little cat nap every now and then.
Maybe they won't have it, then. FOX said they were, but you know how the media is prone to mistakes.

She is an amazingly strong woman. This has to have taken a toll on her. My heart lurches every time I see her and think of what she is enduring.

I saw that. God bless her. I tell you, ACR, I really think this funeral means more to me than Reagan's. The turnout for this one shows me how much the American people appreciate decency.
