WASHINGTON — Gerald R. Ford leaves his beloved U.S. Capitol for the last time Tuesday as the period set aside for ordinary Americans to say goodbye gives way to an elaborate invitation-only funeral at the awe-inspiring Washington National Cathedral.

As the first order of business Tuesday, Ford's remains were being removed from the Rotunda to lie in repose briefly outside the Senate before leaving the Capitol where Ford served as a congressman for 25 years. As vice president, Ford also had the constitutional title of president of the Senate.

Shall we gather at the river that flows from the Throne of God?

This must have been a G.R. Ford favorite.

Fox News is not covering this ceremony at all. They have returned to their normal Cavuto programming.

I think her eulogy is very good. She's not making this about "her," but about President Ford. She's also speaking before the largest audience she's ever had. I'd be shaking.

The problem is, we need to find a way to get her deep seated anger to show it's ugliness in public.

Obviously, showing her frowning, and screeching, and all of the other stuff that has been shown hasn't kept the MSM from pushing for her to be POTUS...

As far as the MSM is concerned she can do no wrong.

racking up those frequent flyer miles...I don't think I've ever seen a body moved this much.

May he finally rest in peace.

This is a ritual going back to deep ancient times. There is purpose in it.

I said on another thread that when I was very young I did not appreciate the need for the ceremonies of life and death..Now I do. President Ford deserved and received a wonderful tribute to his life of service to this nation and mourning of his death.

I have watched the Pentagon channel and heard the commentary of our own txradioguy representing the Old Guard with his commentary. He made me proud.

I don't know; I'm just seeing how stricken with grief Betty is... so drawn into herself.

My heart aches for her. I remember how well Nancy Reagan held up during her Ronnie's funeral, until the very end when she had to leave, and then she just couldn't let go of his coffin. I was sobbing so hard I could barely see the TV screen. It was just heart-rending. I pray God will bring Mrs. Ford peace and comfort in her grief.

My memory is that Lynda was married in the WHite House itself and the Luci married a Cathoilc (converting in the process) on her first go-round, so not likely married at the Washington Cathedral ... but my memory ain't what it used to be.

Don't take this the wrong way, MiaT...but,

Who even knows MiaT except US...and none of us will vote for her.

It is John Q. Voter that has to get that information...and the only thing they listen/watch is the MSM.
