WKAT-AM (1360) will launch a Christian talk and teaching format on Jan. 1 with a lineup of popular ministry programs.
''Since entering Miami in 2005, we have looked for an opportunity to offer South Florida listeners quality Christian talk programming,'' said Joe D. Davis, executive vice president of California-based Salem Communications, corporate owner of WKAT.
Shows will touch on issues such as relationships and family concerns, as well as Biblical faith. Hosts include James Dobson and Pastor Chuck Swindoll.
Not too unusual for bad talk radio.
I really don't know.
Have you thought about using software like "Total Recorder"? Total Recorder has the ability to record anything that comes through your speakers..it has a scheduler; so that you can schedule the Total Recorder to record these programs in Mp3 format, while they are playing on the internet; then, you can play them back at your own convenence. This is called time shifting, and it works very well. Simply google Total Recorder to learn more. It's fairly simple to set up as well.
I use the Total Recorder software all the time to record streaming programs when I'm not home. It works.
And Medved is ...gasp!...Jewish!
We can't have none o' that around here!
(NOTE: The preceeding statements are sarcasm and not intended to be taken seriously.)
But will Total recorder work when your computer is off? I don't want to leave it on all the time.
Thanx for the streaming audio info. I just bookmarked it and am about to hear Laura. WOO! HOO!
FYI, it includes stations that replay also. So if a station airs Laura in the evening, you can catch it then.
Yes. Listening now.
BTW, I have nothing to do with the site, a FReeper, whose name I can't remember, pointed me to the site. It's amazing (although needs a constant update). For example, the WABC link is old.
OTOH, Laura is now available here on Milwaukee radio! The bad news? Her show is on at 2am - 5am.
Don't worry about Laura Ingraham. She'll return somewhere on the dial. She's got the top-ranked national show in her time slot. They dumped her from early evenings on KSFO (San Francisco) for Mark Levin because he is syndicated by ABC (like Rush and Hannity) and ABC owns KSFO, and a couple of weeks later, KNEW (where Savage moved when KSFO carried all three hours of Hannity) snatched her up, dumping Glenn Beck (unfortunately, he can't be heard in S.F. Thank goodness for Headline News).
My page is kind of old and I don't have time to update.
Savage and Ingraham are still heard on WFTL 850, in the Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beach area.

I also think it was a dumb move. I can't begin to count how many Christian stations are already in the market.
If they can't do conservative talk profitably, they should revert back to the previous format on WKAT: classical music.
Buying a station in this "blue" market was foolish for a company like Salem. I betcha that bumpkin Tancredo would agree!!!! ;-)
Then hopefully they will have Benny Hinn, and Ted Haggard.
"Laura Ingraham used to be on a local station that went all-sports. I think it was 1400 on the AM dial. What happened with that station since then?"
That was WFTL. Since then, the call changed (twice) and it's now Caribbean music.
Historic WFTL is now at 850. Same owners. Yawn.
The good news is, I just found out they have Free Talk Live on Saturday nights, starting tomorrow!!!

It’s actually not. Commercial Christian talk is getting more popular, a good place to discuss a lot of crap that is going on in the churches and make people aware of the very televangelist false teachers to whom you refer. We have one in Minneapolis too (KKMS) and it is the sister station of AM1280 the patriot which carries Ingraham and Medved. I’m betting something similar happened with WKAT.
Tonight (6-15-07) they had Ken Silva on Joe Oliver talking about the Emergent church. Good stuff. Silva is great.
