JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- A commercial Adam Air passenger plane with more than 100 people onboard lost contact with flight controllers Monday on a flight between Indonesia's Java and Sulawesi islands, officials said.
Adam Air flight KI-574 was still missing more than five hours after the scheduled arrival time.
A senior Transport Ministry official, Ichsan Tatang, said aviation authorities were gathering information from other flights which "might have picked up the plane's distress signal."
Adam Air's chief executive, Gunawan Suherman, confirmed to The Associated Press that controllers had lost contact with Adam Air flight KI-574.

Contact lost with plane carrying 102 in Indonesia
Contact was lost when the plane was at an altitude of 35,000 feet, about one hour before it was due to land, Ikhsan said.
Prayers for the people on board.
Is that an automatic signal or an actual human ?
Lots of scuba divers dive Sulawesi islands...(I used to dive there until the last visit involved machine gun toting muslims which made my last day at the airport a nightmare) my prayers to any tourists who may be in that area of the world...as for muslims...oh well...inshallah
Contact Lost with Indonesian Passenger Jet Carrying 102 People
A plane that is five hours late is a plane that will never arrive.
Bad news. And the people who are dancing assuming these are all muslims who deserve this are disgusting.
This is 'bad news'. . .and could be worse if it serves as an omen of sorts for the 'New Year'. . .
. . .but I do not see anyone dancing - certainly not on this thread.
Indonesia may be predominantly muslim but there are plenty of Christians, Jews, buddhists etc. Also they are the most pro western of muslim nations even though they have their fair share of extremists.

While travleing we were warned NOT to photograph any muslims women and or burnt out religious edifices.
Diving is GREAT there...but the whole trip you remain frightened and fearful that the wrong glance will get you toted off and jailed. It should be noted my last trip there was in 2001 prior to 9-11...and I vowed then to NEVER GO BACK...even tho I loved Bali and the week in Bali wasn't enough (should be noted the bombing in Bali took place just buildings away from where we stayed).
So for all the non-muslims in Indonesia, I wish you peace and safe passage...as for the muslims...may you reap what you sow...inshallah...

I delivered a small cargo of workover fluid to Unocal in Balikpapan about ten years ago. Before the "authorities" would allow the transfer of the oil, we had to wire a 100 percent bribe to an Indonesian bank. Never do that again.
I agree, dancing on this possible grave is disgusting. I dislike Muslims and their religion but I do know a few who are pro American so not every Muslim is a hate America killer. I just wish they'd open their mouths more often instead of letting the true killers speak for their entire religion.
