Okay, any other predictions? I double-dare ya. And I'm going to save this thread, see who gets it right.

As an aside and other than the Kraut's cryptic take on Saddam's necktie party, the shows were pretty much, IMHO, the same bill of fare as usual today.

Here are a few predictions for 2007:

An aging, nearly 87, John Paul Stevens, a stain on Ford's brief presidency, will now retire since the Senate appears to be capable of blocking a "strict construcionist" etc. replacement without resorting to a filibuster and its attendant talk of a "nuclear" option- Senator Johnson's condition notwithstanding.

The fight for the Hispanic vote will bring the Pubs' internal schism over immigration to a fever pitch; possibly reshaping the American Right.

The situation in Iraq will recede as the most critical factor in foreign affairs as the inevitable conflict, and I mean war, between Israel and Iran/Syria draws closer and closer.

Hillary Clinton will be out of the running for her party's nomination for the presidency by late 2007.

Joe Wilson will face charges for lying to federal investigators. (OK, this is plainly wishful thinking.)

Disclaimer: the half life of political predictions is often the time it takes to speak (or to type) a few words.

Happy New Year, everyone!

"Hillary Clinton will be out of the running for her party's nomination for the presidency by late 2007."

This is the only prediction I disagree with you on. Hillary is not going to be out of the running, if at all, until 2008. She is evil and will do whatever it takes to get the nomination. I don't see her bowing out until after the primaries and caucuses.
