Preview and Analysis for Weekend of December 30th and 31st, 2006
With apologies to Robert Burns' mousie, these are the last shows for the year and all of the best laid plans of the show planners gang aft agley. No doubt originally all that was to happen this weekend was a review of the (trumpant) Dhimmicrat's "overwhelming victory" in the November elections (never mind that the change in seats in 2006 in the House was barely half of the change in '94, or that the Dhimmicrats don't hold a majority in the Senate, despite what Wolf Blitzer tries to tell you). Then Gerald Ford had the bad manners to drop dead. But that's OK, because he was a good Republican who knew how to act in the minority and roll over for his betters. But then (gasp) McChimpy Bushitler personally put a noose around good old Saddam's neck and ruined all of the dreams of the Dhimmicrat's friends in the Baath party. How gauche!
I'm real late posting this on Saturday, the 30th, but it's moot since all of the Saturday shows seem to have been preempted by the Ford funeral arrangements. It's possible that some of the shows, particularly JER, will be on late tonight, but we'll see. In the meantime it appears that lots of the conventional wisdom has been scrambled, primarily by Saddam's unlamented exit from this mortal coil, but also by President Gerald Ford's passing. I think Reid's insistence on vacationing (pardon me, conducting hearings) in Peru instead of attending the funeral for an ex-President will come back to haunt that miserable excuse for a human being (OK, I'm prejudiced, so sue me). Likewise I think Nazi Pelosi's four day coronation is going to look really tacky after the dignity of the Ford funeral. But, hey, that's just crass politics. More significantly I think there is a chance that ol' Saddam's absence may just shock the players in Iraq into thinking again about their positions on certain issues. Sadr has to be taking another look at his life insurance policies, for example. It's all well and good to tell others that you get 72 virgins upon martyrdom, but when your main goal is power that's scant comfort for someone like Mookie.
As last week there are brief analyses of each of the Sunday shows in the show by show preview. Here are the minimalist show listings for the five Sunday shows:
ABC This week
CBS Face The Nation
CNN Late Edition
Fox New Sunday
NBC Meet The Press
This should be cross posted to my blog at Wizards.townhall.com sooner or later, maybe even today. This post exists primarily as a heads up for who is on the weekend talks shows, what they've been invited on to push (based on their recent pronouncements) and the spin (meme) the DBM is likely trying to push based on that information. All of this is prep work for the weekly Sunday Morning Talk Show thread posted by Alas Babylon!. That thread provides a live commentary and analysis of the Sunday talking head shows, with rare insight and exceptional fact checking. we are the Jedi Council of FreeRepublic, at least in regards to these DBM gabfests. You wanna know what was said and what it meant, as well as where they messed up? Read that thread!
Mark Kilmer has posted his excellent preview thread over at RedState.COM.
I noted that too, and besides, I am sick to death of news.
I do not know what Fred's problem is...he is just wimpy...and that is pretty bad when his partner is MORT.
Oh...and I don't know if you saw the show or not...but, their "Mistake of the Year", was the Republicans' campaigning for strict immigration laws and border control.
They both said that was the strategy that lost the election for the GOP...
They've really been riding that horse hard for five or six months now. Shows me they need to get out of the beltway and look around at the real world most of us live in.
LOL-LOL-LOL
Mort had kind of chilled out for a while, but lately I've seen his far left, anti-Bush side coming out more and more.
I have a feeling it will be light...
Now, next Sunday....after Congress has been sworn in could be heavier...but the Sunday after that...when Congress has been in session for a week...under the "leadership" (ugh) of Pelosi and Reid...
I have a feeling the talk shows will be either totally maddening (which makes for long ones)...or they (the dems) will screw up somehow..and THAT will make for a long, happy thread.
Of course, all bets are off...if the unexpected happens...or if Pres. Bush gives his speech about what he will do next, re: Iraq...in those cases, it will be a long thread no matter what.
Well...rest your eyes...you will have SOME reading to do tomorrow...
See you then!
The Chargers play tomorrow don't they??
The Cowboys play an early game for I think about the first time this year...at noon.
I hope we get to see the Chargers here...they rarely show them in this market, darn it.
YES! Charger;s play for home field advantage throughout the play off's. Game is in San Diego against the AZ cardinals.
We bought the NFL package so we could see alll of their games and every other game for that matter.
I think Mort is going to get worse, now that his dems are in power...
All I know is, whenever Brit has on Fred, Mort, and Mara....we very rarely get a "conservative" viewpoint on the news...unless Brit get involved in the discussion.
Lately, Brit seems to have a perpetual question mark above his head...his panelists have said some goofy stuff.
When we first got DirecTV...we had the football package...but, after our son moved out...we didn't flip around as much...so we cancelled it.
If the Cowboys don't straighten up...I may pick a new favorite team and have to get the package in order to watch that team each week...LOL (next year, of course).
I really hate when football season is over, I love watching football games.
Even Brit has been slightly off his game lately. I worry about his wife leaving Fox and if he is planning to retire or something... and, yes, we do not get much conservative viewpoint lately.
I love football season too and I really miss going to the games. :(
Plus, we'll talk presidential politics
Democratic candidate Gov. Tom Vilsack, D-Iowa
His 15 minutes of fame.
I have a feeling it will be light...
WHAT! Light when we'll get to hear the wisdom Gov. Tom Vilsack, D-Iowa?
LOL...I think he even comes in 3-4 in IOWA polls...
The war isn't over yet .. but yet these numbnuts are are claiming it is
And they wonder why we can't stand the media
I agree about Kate Obierne being ignored on MTP panel. She is really pathetic.
Understatement of the year!!With your computer skills you make stuff we spend hours on look like child's play. You are probably in a league of your own.
