The US authorities in Baghdad faced a dilemma before deciding to fly Saddams body to his clan in Tikrit; between Sunni Arabs and his relatives building a monument and a shrine for Sunni pilgrimage from the Arab world, and Shiite or Kurdish attempts to snatch the body and burn it, thereby provoking a fresh cycle of sectarian violence. The burial is planned for Sunday.
His last words were: "Palestine is ours." Saddam who ruled Iraq for 35 years was 69. Although US and Iraqi forces were on high alert for sectarian bloodshed, three car bombs in Baghdad killed at least 37 people, injured 65. Libya announced three days of mourning.
Saddam was condemned to death with his half-brother Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikrity and the former chairman of the Baath revolutionary courts Awad Ahmad al Bandar. Their executions will take place later.

Cremate him and flush his ashes down a toilet.
I had other thoughts.
Put him in a truck fill with explosives, tape the pedal down, and aim it at Tikrit.
They should have put his body thru that meat grinder like he did so many of his victims, only while he was still alive!!!
His last words were: "Palestine is ours."
I give up!
Should've dropped his ass out of a C-130 at 30K ft.
Should've dragged it around Tikrit a few times, tied by the ankle to an Abrams. Nice classical touch.
Put his ashes in an egg timer. Get an honest day's work out of the slug.
Now *THATS* a good moslem. The dead kind. ..
After sewing him into a hog carcass, flying out to a large body of salt water, and chumming up some sharks.
I had the same visual of him...lying atop a trap door in a huge cargo plane, and that lever to open and drop him just one more time.
That will build quite a database of observed visitors. An enemies list.
His last words were: "Palestine is ours."
I give up!
Me too! I thought it was "Palestinians are Arabs," which I thought was the same as saying "Illegal immigrants are Mexicans."
Now he's been hanged.
The Sword is gone. The people can be themselves without fear of the Sword.
Cut the body up, feed it to swine and serve it up to his buddies.
As a practical matter, Christians do not take revenge upon bodies and engage in mutilation. It is important to behave in a manner consistent with our values no matter how foul the perpetrator. I was disappointed in the execution for its lack of solemnity and the behavior of both Saddam and his executioners. The taunting and post execution silliness lacked dignity . If a man deserves to die for his transgressions it costs you nothing to remain dignified and demonstrate the grace and gravity befitting the moment. You are transmitting a soul to the justice of God. God doesn't taunt and do endzone dances. He acts.
