ATLAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. Prosecutors in Genesee County will evaluate whether to file charges after a man was fatally shot while allegedly terrorizing a couple in their home.
Police say a 51-year-old Sterling Heights man came to the Atlas Township home of his ex-wife last weekend. He reportedly sprayed the back of the home with bullets, threw a whiskey bottle through a window and broke into the home.
The homeowner then fatally shot the man with an A-K-47 assault rifle.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Department says the 9-1-1 tape recorded the caller saying he was going to have to shoot the man firing shots at the house.
A new law in Michigan allows homeowners to use deadly force in certain situations.

Woops. Terrorized the wrong house.
It's not a stupid question at all. If our media were actually "Fair & Balanced" we'd be hearing these types of stories all the time. The NRA has for decades compiled these news accounts in a column they call "The Armed Citizen". Here's a link to the archives:

I grew up in that county, it is an economically depressed area now.
This article is typically unclear. Why don't they send these reporters to journalism school? Oops, I guess that's what the problem is.
The house, according to the reporter, belongs to the invader's ex-wife. The "homeowner" shot him. So, is the homeowner identical with the ex-wife? Apparently not, since "he" phoned 911 and warned the police he would shoot the invader.
You would think they could have been just a tiny bit clearer about the facts, without necessarily even using more words. But as we know, "who, what, when, where, why" are now far down the list of journalistic concerns.
"When you positively, absolutely, have to kill every mutha---- in the room."
You've got to invite us over to your 'rec' room.

The NRA I understand keeps an archive...I've read in the past that criminal activity is thwarted upwards of a couple million times a year by armed, law-abiding citizens, most all of which there are no casualties involved...
Well, the media is doing its part by labeling it an "assault" rifle. Heck, it probably wasn't even a real AK; probably an SKS.
Everyone who is eligible to own a gun should buy one and learn how to use it. The crooks already have them.
What's the square footage on that house?
That's my favorite response to gun control freaks.
Should be "DEAD" home intruder....
The new who, what, when, where for journalists goes as follows.
Who gets the blame (conservatives DUH).
What can I do to make this story about racism.
When can we outlaw religion, guns, capitalism (take your choice).
How do we scare people into giving up those freedoms.
Where is the gay rights angle to this story
Why don't those yokels in the red states listen to us.
So where were the local police during this adventure?
Since he couldn't fit a cop in his holster, he took the matter into his own hands!!
LOL...if that's what you keep in your house for home protection, it's obvious that your not married.....
