On the news on my Public radio station WQED, they told the story of his execution ....... the young boy who had a "hardscrabble", "impoverished" upbringing......blah, blah, blah.
It was all summed up basically to say that that is what made dear Saddam grow up to kill hundreds of thousands of people.

I gave up listening to it a long time ago. Saddam did have a hard childhood, but so what?

The media always puts out that crap about a bad childhood whenever a serial killer is sent to trial. Hundreds of millions of people have had a tough time growing up and DIDN'T commit crimes against humanity as adults, but the left always ignores that. We pity murderous dictators at our peril.
And all of those people he tortured and killed, all of those women and girls he raped and murdered grew up in the lap of luxury???
Suddenly compassion is the be all and end all??? That's enabling someone -- a despot!
