Comparing a decent American CEO like Whitacre to Hussein is silly and ridiculous.

Ed Whitacre is a scumbag who donated a half million dollars from SBC to the Clinton Library, and hired Clinton's Commerce Secretary to run the company.

Companies like AT&T etc give to both parties. The CEOs of these big companies do so as well. There is little evidence that Ed Whitacre is a liberal. He has personally donated to Texas Republicans.

Of the 3 ILECs Whitacre was the one who hung tough and did not cave in the wiretapping hearings. The inference was that AT&T had cooperated with the feds on wiretapping but that it was a classified matter. Sounds patriotic to me.

There is more evidence based on your whining about big companies that you are liberal than is Whitacre.

Ed Whitacre is no patriot. He was not in charge of AT&T when the terrorist surveillance contract was negotiated, but he is legally required to keep it confidential as the chairman of the successor company.

Ed Whitacre is a criminal who ought to be in prison. He is far more corrupt than Kenneth Lay or any other crook you could name in recent years. The only other person who has inflicted more economic damage to our nation lately is Osama bin Laden.

To compare an American CEO with Bin Laden means you are wack job. Maybe a disgruntled slacker fired by SBC. Who knows? It doesn't matter.

Wrong again. I've never worked a day for any phone company.

One other point about Ed Whitacre - he is determined to undermine States' Rights by abolishing local regulation of utilities and replacing it with federal regulation. He is an enemy of Conservatism.

All of which are based on one or more of the following misrepresentations:

1. "Net Neutrality" somehow prevents charging people more for using more bandwidth. Wrong -- strike one.

2. "Net Neutrality" precludes prioritization of emergency services. Wrong (in fact, this is explicitly separated out in every neutrality bill introduced so far). Wrong -- strike three.

3. "Net Neutrality" is a solution in search of a problem. Wrong (we already have examples of ISP throttling of VoIP services).

Three lies; yer out!

I see that you are beyond education and have a narrow, no, a closed mind. Oh well. You've sided with socialists and their ilk. If the stupidity that is Net Neutrality happens and expansion grinds to a halt, you can feel safe and secure in the knowledge that you were wrong but it will be too late. Hope you're happy with your girl Pelosi.

What is important to remember is that this is govermnemt controlled and regulated competition and not free market competition.

Yes. This merger required all of the State PSCs, Justice Dept and FCC to sign off on it. Incredible.

That is indeed the root of the problem. If it weren't for government franchises that restrict who may and may not own and operate the wire networks, this would not be an issue.
