Bush is bracing for new scrutiny (of Democrat probes)

President Bush is bracing for what could be an onslaught of investigations by the new Democratic-led Congress by hiring lawyers to fill key White House posts and preparing to play defense on countless document requests and possible subpoenas. Bush is moving quickly to fill vacancies within his stable of lawyers, though White House officials say there are no plans to drastically expand the legal staff to deal with a flood of oversight.

"No, at this point, no," Tony Snow, the White House spokesman, said recently. "We'll have to see what happens."

Snow rebutted the notion that Bush is casting about for legal advice in the wake of his party's loss of control of the Congress.

"We don't have a war room set up where we're ... dialing the 800 numbers of law firms," he said.

Still, in the days after the elections, the White House announced that Bush had hired two replacements to plug holes in his counsel's office, including one lawyer, Christopher G. Oprison, who is a specialist in handling white-collar investigations. A third hire was securities law specialist Paul R. Eckert, whose duties include dealing with the Office of the Special Counsel. Bush is in the process of hiring a fourth associate counsel, said Emily A. Lawrimore, a White House spokeswoman.

"Obviously, if we do have investigations, we'll have to make sure we have enough people to be prepared to answer questions that come our way," Lawrimore said. "As of right now, I wouldn't say it's anything special."

H/t MacRanger. "However, I do hope they will try because it will also open the door for a little thing called “discovery”. That’s right, the exploration and reexamination of any evidence your accusers may have against you. It also give the other side to subpoena pertinent documentation from them. Believe me there are a lot of democrats who are very nervous about what they’re compadres are up to - note Nancy Pelosi’s reluctance?"

Don't worry if some of the classified documents make their way into the hands of our enemies. After all that would make it easier for them to defeat us. That way the dums can stay in power with ignorant voters, by saying it's all Bush's fault.

Bush needs to assemble a war room to combat this or he'll go down as a historic failure.

Both sides need to come to together in a selfless, bipartisan way, for the common good, for America.

They need to work tirelessly and pass an Amnesty bill, in defiance of the wishes of the overwhelming number of Americans, for people who have broken our nations laws

Then the Rats can impeach him.

Regards.

Let's hope it's not Barney Frank who's administering the Democratic "probes".

I wonder who the senate will belong to? They'll have a tough two years if they lose the senate and they keep on this course.

... and W seeks to find ways to accommodate the new democrat agenda of Pelosi and Schumer, mindful that they sought to stifle his for the last 6 years ...

and Schumer's judges were nominated and he saw that it was good.

The minute this sh*t starts, Bush should go on national TV and demand that an investigation of Sandy Burger should begin and that Hillery and Bill should be named as those who should be questioned about what Berger was doing and how it effected national security.
The next time, he should name Jamie Gorelic and her role in 911 and demand an investigation into Bill and Hillery's role in leaving our country defenseless.

But this won't happen: Bush and the TOTALLY BALL-LESS republicans will simply roll over and agree to co-operate with the nice Democrats.
