he should go to jail,no question, but "murder based on race" is ridiculous. i can't beleive it's even a charge. if all races are equal, how come you receive more jail time for killing one than the other?

Exactly. Mental crimes are the stuff of 1984. We cannot judge such a thing. We can certainly judge the crime and give the thug what he deserves.

How about a compromise? If the murder was done for money,love, or recreation than it the death penalty. I the murder was commited out of racism or bigotry then they get death penalty followed by 20 years in jail.

part of some gang initiations is to randomly attack someone based solely on race. "murder based on race" could make the difference in regards to it being pre-meditated or not.
