An Iraqi appeals court has upheld the death sentence for ousted President Saddam Hussein, Iraq's national security adviser has said.
"The appeals court approved the verdict to hang Saddam [Hussein]," Mouwafak al-Ruabaie said.
On 5 November, an Iraqi court sentenced Saddam Hussein to death for the 1982 killings of 148 Kurds in Dujail.
The former leader's lawyers had launched an appeal following last month's verdict.
We can only hope...
Does anyone know the time? I heard that the time is very short. Maybe 30 days.
BBC is a bunch of liberal IDIOTS.
He was convicted for killing 148 Shias (and torturing more) not 148 Kurds!
Professionalism is rare...
IIRC Saddam reaches that age in March, but I guess he will be hanged before that date.
the grunt on the ground should have dropped a granade into that spider hole.
Expect a huge amount of nanny-politics and wailing over "poor Saddam".
Right. Evidently the Iraquis were smart enough to see through that ploy.
I imagine there will be a public execution. Hopefully, this'll be on YouTube in time for my next birthday!
My question is: When Saddam swings, will it be a public or private spectacle?

Fact checking is a tiring job. From the third paragraph of the BBC report, one can read, "Lawyers launched an appeal after a court sentenced Saddam Hussein to death on 5 November for the 1982 killings of 148 Shias in the town Dujail."
I don't know why the poster said Kurds.
They have updated the article.
"An Iraqi appeals court has upheld the death sentence against ousted President Saddam Hussein, Iraq's national security adviser has said.

Under Iraqi law, Saddam Hussein must be executed within 30 days.
The BBC's Peter Greste in Baghdad says the execution is likely to provoke an angry response from Saddam Hussein's supporters, so it is understood that it will be carried out at a private time and in a private place.
The former president is currently facing a separate trial in connection with a military campaign against Kurdish communities.
But Iraqi authorities have always said that they will carry out the sentence even if court proceedings are still under way, our correspondent says."
So I guess they corrected their mistake.
Which doesn't BTW change the fact that they are liberal idiots anyway.
What influence do these bleeding heart libs have with the government of IRAQ?
Lets get the job done. warm up the mulcher.
If we could eliminate both Saddam and Castro in January, 2007 will be off to a great start.
Fox News said he will be put to death within 30 days. He lost all 4 appeals....
Ramsey Clarke is deeply saddened.
