A persuasive argument can be made that Jews haven't been treated worse than other minorities radically different from host majorities. The Jews just miraculously live to tell about it.

Civilizations and cultures come and go, displaced by others, usually for some type of material gain. In recent times, we edge close to the disappearance of Kurds, Basques, Assyrians, Ainu and American Indians. The destroyers of Jewish culture just haven't been as successful.

Logic would seem to indicate that the methods they use to live to tell about it would be the reason they are expelled. I wouldn't think money has much to do with it.
