Holocaust denier David Irving on Friday said Jews should ask themselves why they have been hated throughout history.
"They [Jews] should ask themselves the question, 'Why have they been so hated for 3000 years that there has been pogrom after pogrom in country after country?', said Irving, speaking at a press conference he convened in England on Friday, a day after he was released from an Austrian prison.
Irving, who was sentenced to three years in prison for denying the Holocaust, was released last week after his appeal was granted.
Asked if he sees himself as anti-Semitic, Irving said, "No, I like to think I am not."
But immediately following his answer, Irving expressed his support for Mel Gibson's comments that "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."
Irving also took pride in the success of his books and claimed that he the fortune he made from sales of his biography on World War II German General Erwin Rommel enabled him to walk into a car showroom with a paper bag stuffed with cash to buy a "Nigger brown Rolls-Royce."
Irving's comments aroused great anger within Britain's Jewish community.
Lord Janner, president of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said Irving's release was "unwarranted" and that Irving's "latest comments were totally to be expected and should be totally ignored."

Jews are hated because we make better bagels than anyone else.
(That's the REAL reason no one wants to admit.)
Thanks for reminding me of the ethnic Chinese in Indonesia example. You are so right; Thomas Sowell also uses it in one of his books about ethnicity and economics.
Did we share the same social anthropology text in 1956? The same scenario is contained in books describing the history of the common law.
Jew hating and Jew blaming are universal. People can't accept their own failure and inepitude. It doesn't matter if the "failures" are prominent successful people - they see themselves as failures.
Didn't see it in an anthropology text. It just seems kind of obvious that an ethnic group that primarily sticks to a set of occupations over many generations, will select for characteristics that make them successful
Very perceptive and intelligent conclusion. Being relegated to a limited range of commercial conduct would inevitably cause the limited discrete group to become expert at it.

I saw a lady on CSpan a few years ago talk about this. Her parents were successful Chinese in the phillipines. There was some kind of insurrection, and they were murdererd by their chauffeur. She'd written a book. Can't remember her name.
I believe the real reason why JEWS are hated is FEAR.
Jews are mobilized, organized, intelligent people - what makes them so? - their religion -
they work hard at it. Any person not beloging to this group (the Jews) would feel FEAR
of not belonging and consequently not prospering (wealth, control, politics.)
Hitler hated the Jews due to Fear - Fear of not belonging, Fear of not being intelligent,
Fear of not prospering, Fear of loosing control. Furthermore, the Jewish mentality was
exclusive membership - keep outsiders out.
