WASHINGTON Just as federal housing money was to start flowing again to thousands of Texas-based hurricane evacuees, a federal appeals court put everything on hold Friday.
The ruling means that about 4,200 families in Houston, San Antonio and Austin who were left homeless by hurricanes Katrina and Rita will have to wait until at least February to find out whether the federal government is required to restore their rental assistance payments.
By then, the temporary housing program will have expired unless Congress or President Bush extend it.

I thought the key word here was "temporary", but I must be mistaken. Public housing and welfare were intended to be short-term, too. I'd laugh, but it seems the joke is on us.

This will go on forever!
When it comes to money ... they'll keep reaching in your pocket. There is little incentive to get up on their feet and have THEM help themselves. Pity me silly is much easier. Demoncrats know this and so does Bush.

Its supposed to be TEMPORARY. The rest of us don't get free housing. We have to pay our rent and our mortgage. Why are these people special? All of us have had tragedy in our lives but you don't see the federal government holding our hands.

Elderly, infirm or disabled individuals or minors who have lost their parents or guardians **need** to be the recipients of some form of assistance.
That is the decent thing to do.
ALL others **need** to be the recipients of a copy of
"Conscience of a Conservative" by Barry Goldwater, a final $50.00 "separation FROM assistance" check, a hearty handshake and the best wishes of the United States of America for the future.
That is the decent thing to do.
See?
I am a compassionate conservative. The real kind.
My compassion extends towards the poor Schmucks who have to pay the bills.

BULLETIN FOR "EVACUEES".....These parasites still want to be called e-vac-u-ees?
They failed to evacuate when they were told to.
They have failed to go out and get jobs to pay the rent.
They sound more like lazy parasites, not evacuees.

I'm not your brother and the only reason this is even remotely tolerated is because they are black. More "slavery-guilt" turned into stipends from tax dollars. Essentially, it's back-door reparations.

I was a "victim" of the 1994 Northridge, California earthquake. I want the federal government to pay for my housing in perpetuity too..
