TEHRAN, Dec. 23 (MNA) -- Mel Gibsons blockbuster The Passion of the Christ (2004) will be screened at the Imam Ali (AS) Religious Arts Museum tomorrow.
Depicting the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus (AS), the controversial film will be reviewed by Iranian critics Hiva Masih and Reza Dorostkar in a session open to the public after the screening.
The program will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition of the World Award of Monotheistic Religions -- First International Poster Competition, which is currently underway at the museum.

I clearly stated - NOT since Ahmadi-Nejad took over in 2005. Where did you read that to mean "never"??
Did you notice that the BBC English language did not even post this article at all, though it had an article on Xmas in Iraq? If it's an intersting and valid story, why might that be?
Based on past track record in a very similar situation - so to speak - I would have to take your research results from Iran with a grain of salt. Sorry.
Please note that other FReepers also took exception to the validity of the photos, even without the ability to check the Farsi language article.
Just curious. Your use of the slang "cuz" for "because" is not your usual writing style either. Someone else writing as Nuconvert?
I had a look at the Christmas Photos. They appear to be authentic i.e. taken in Tehran, but unsure if in 2006.
Im not blaming the poster of photos and regardless of who posted the pics on FR and when they were taken, my question would be why the BBC website should publish them at all?
To me, the photos are simply a token display of religious tolerance by IR. IR is anything but tolerant or open-minded, most know that. Therefore, the photos are meaningless and yes, Id say for propaganda purposes, which would be particularly effective this time of year in the West. The same applies to this article.
The program will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition of the World Award of Monotheistic Religions
I saw pictures of the mentioned exhibition in the above quote too. The pictures only highlight Judaism, Islam and Christianity, with major emphasis on Islam in various forms that a non-Muslim wouldnt recognize. Actually, it is all done with mirrors, as they say.
It was your statement in #11, not the one you made specifically to me that made it sound as though it's never been allowed.
Thanks for a lucid analysis.
I beg to differ about the innocent intent of someone who claims to know current society in Iran and mocks me on an ad hominem basis.
Or is misleading FReepers an established Amendment right?
With all due respect, I can't comment on the motive or intent of the poster of the article or the photos.
However, if I, personally, were to post something of that nature, I would put a note indicating the possibility of propaganda.
Fair comment.
Interesting to note, though I may have skimmed past it, that neither the main Farsi language page nor the German language page of this news source bothers to mention this event.
Which event?
Showing the Passion of the Christ.

I just had a look. I can't read Persian very well and there doesn't seem to be a German page there.
Go to the Persian page (first language link) and the very top left link below title (tiny font) of the languages has German in Farsi.
From memory, the next is Arabic, then Turkish, next is Urdu and the last is German.
Yes, so have I. There are thousands of new converts but they're afraid to admit it because they don't want their heads separated from the rest of their bodies. But, ONE DAY it will be revealed.
He's talking about a jesus who will lead Islam into war against the gentiles. It's not OUR Jesus. It's a satanic (surprise surprise) counterfeit.
Ok, when I go to the Persian page, very top left for languages, I get English, Urdu and Arabic, that's all. Have a look now yourself, if you get additional language options, then I don't know why I'm not getting them.
Btw, this is one related thing I just saw on the site in Persian, but you're right it doesn't seem to be related to the English article in this thread?

Yeah, interesting. The English article seems to be for Western consumption.
Mea culpa. the link is on the English page. Top left is "Deutsch" or German. Sorry for the misdirect.
Ok, just looked at it: Es gibt nichts auf Deutsch = nothing in German either. You're right.
Ich spreche auch Deutsch und Franzoesisch= I speak German and French :-)) - I'm a linguist, remember?
Ja Klar und wunderbar; fröhliches Weihnachten. :-)
Christmas Eve here already.. off to dinner with all the family.
Same to you. You have an umlaut key? Or did you type it in Word then copy and paste? The MS Word special characters do not work directly when typing posts.
Or is there a trick I do not know?
Guten Appetit.
With your time indicator of it already being Xmas Eve, and you are about to dine or plan to dine with family? Where the heck are you? Or do you mean it's after midnight and already Sunday?
Because of the antiu-semitic slur, I have no doubt this will be propaganda by the mullahs to show how Jews had Christ killed...I wonder how they will explain it is Romans who beat hiim and hung him on the Cross? Or are they going to lie and call the Romans Jews?
Either way, something is funny here, while the holocaust deniers conference is going on, we are supposed to believe they are showing a "Christian Movie" which so many used to claim anti-semitism??
