It might be important that the moslems actually hold Jesus as a great prophet and He will figure prominantly in the apocalyptic revolution Iammadjohn seems to be fixated on.

Very good point.

Achmedingdong could be trying to use the film to convince the masses that The Day is At Hand.

Oh yeah. No question about it. The apocalyptic revolution has been a very popular subculture over there for centuries.

Tradition does not equal God's word.

That's a totally artificial end to the discussion.

How do you know which of the many, many manuscripts extant from that period are God's word, without the Holy Spirit's inspiration of the compilers?

All I'm saying is that we need the guidance of the early Church and the Church Fathers to know what is included in "the Bible" which is after all a collection of books from many time periods and by many different authors.

I am not disbelieving that it is God's word - just asking how you arrive at the conclusion that the King James Version, or the Revised Standard Version, or the Douay-Rheims Version for that matter, is "God's word." Was King James's Committee inspired by the Holy Spirit? And, if so, why not the Early Church Fathers?

Christmas display in Tehran verification Hint:
You might want to have your friends in Tehran saunter over to Haft Hoz Square to take a peek - Clear up your misinformation/disinformation problem.
Yes, the shops and Christmas displays are for real. And it's happening even under Ahmadinejad.
And while they're at it, maybe they should take notice of the Christmas trees in peoples' yards.

Yes, the regime is oppressive and they'll use this as propaganda to try to show the world how 'tolerant' they are. We know that. The Iranian people don't care. They're living their lives as best they can and they're taking their chances.
BUT - This IS currently going on in Iran and not just in Tehran, much as you want to try to dispute it.

The Iranian people like western customs and want to be like others in the free world.
Stop denigrating the tenacity of the Iranians living in Iran. Appreciate the fact that they are showing their defiance and opposition to the regime in any way they can. Support them.
And help others understand that the Iranians are not the Saudis or the Iraqis. Show people that Iranians in Iran are very much like people in the west and want to be free like the rest of us.

As you already know, your friend Khashayar posting as Biscuit 85 has been banned again. You and he continue to try to present the Iranian Mullahs as fairly reasonable people and infer Iranian society is not that badly off and there is a lot of tolerance.

As I said, based on your track record and Khashayar, F15 Pilot, Biscuit 85 and his various incarnations and disguises - slanting the news to make the Mullahs and Iran appear to be sort of OK is BS. And I take anything you say from now on with a huge grain of salt.

Sorry, lady, but you have crossed the line too often in your running interference to protect/support someone who has been banned more than once on FR - and for very good reasons.

Some of the mud may be starting to stick to you.

Haft Hose - Seven Pools? Where do YOU think that is in Tehran?Let's hear it.

Going from defending an insane woman who claimed she was taken back in time and that angels floated her above a roon, neither of which happened to the Apostle John, to discussing which text is authoritative is nonsense.

end of discussion

I said right off the bat that nobody has to believe a private revelation.

But it isn't really fair to call her insane. Many people have had visions and angelic visitations . . . are they ALL crazy?

Please don't call people crazy and then try to cut off discussion. That is neither fair nor courteous.

I give you the benefit of the doubt, you should do the same for devout people who may well have seen visions, although the Church holds no official opinion on most private revelations. I stated that in my second post to you, no. 46. That's as "right off" as I can manage.

The Persian language pages talk of interviews where it is stated that the West is totally to blame for problems in Lebanon.

The West IS to blame for all of Iran's problems in Lebanon. Were it not for us they'd be running the place.
