Good to see this topic being raised in the media.

Glorious times back then, when the media was still patriotic...

I am SO glad this was posted..

I saw that last night and my jaw dropped at Nina Easton's idiocy...and I think Brit's did also.

Of course she did it again tonight...when they were asked who has been "naughty" and who has been "nice"...Easton named Rummy as the "naughty" one for "not listening to the military about Iraq"...BLECH

don't blame the media (even though they are two cent socialist whores), it's the complacency and attitude of the american public in general, people have forgotten that there is a price to be paid if we want freedom.

Nina definitely DID mean that the POTUS/CIC HAS to take the media and the media's sensibilities into account before even ordering an attack within a fight, within a war.

Thanks, Sleuthy.

I think we have a quadmire between the media and this administration...

I don't know what your weekend plans are, but if we're not here at the same time, I want to be sure to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! :-)

when did the media become a part of the American government structure to be able to impact such pivotal decisions by the executive branch, and is this something that can be tolerated during a time of war?

I've been shrieking about this for some time now, to no observable effect of course. The media has decided that America has no right to fight, much less win, wars. They also decided that Republicans have no right to be in power in any branch of government.

The media has been pretty successful so far and most here realize what a serious problem that is for out very survival as a nation. The media told Kerry that their support was worth at least 15 points in the polls. He was just so awful he lost anyway, but they were right. We have a BIG problem with our 5th column and I don't know what to do about it.

Me either.

A TRULY conservative national news channel would be a start.

The media is to blame. They shape opinions. Mu wife is from Germany and we have a prominent paper, in German, mailed to us monthly. You wouldn't believe the crap they're subjected to. It's absurd. But what are they to believe?

The liberals were wise to infiltrate our Universities and Press. But now we have to do something about it. Don't blame the people. Blame the liars. And attack them.

Does this suggest that the media have gotten so powerful that a president has to consider how they will report things when he or she enacts a foreign policy decision?

You can't run a war like that and win.

Apples and oranges...
Back in the day, many things were just off-limits to the press. Reporters knew of the countless affairs of our former Presidents but that was a line that couldn't be crossed. Not so today...there are no forbidden subjects in the media now.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Yes there is. A forbidden subject is a story on a Democrat politician that might make the Democrat loook bad.

Sandy Berger, Newsweeks Isikoff killing of the Monica Lewinsky story, etc.

There is a a very simple answer...

We have nowadays met the enemy that wants America to lose the War on Terror, and they are Osama, his followers, the MSM and the Democratic Party.

May my Christmas wish be they all burn in hell!
