The trend is clearly increased population and the insurance isnt going to stop it. - although I share your concerns.

As far as taxes, the tax on my property in Pa is well above what I pay here, although the insurance is less, and the new housing in my area in Pa is coming in at $600,000+, while here it is averaging 250k - 295k for comparable units.

The state, county, and township income taxes are brutal, not to mention the cost of auto ownership is higher, along with mandated inspections that can be very expensive.

There are pros and cons, but the bottom line is that virtually nobody outside of immigrants are moving to Pa, or most of the NE, for that matter.

Wow, good to know. I remember my mother telling me total taxes in CT for a home ran some $12K a year. Insurane was probably $500-$600 range back then in '98.
