You are correct. The officers do not need a warrant to open a fence. One would however believe they need common sense since there was a sign that said "Beware of Dog". Then again maybe they were being too macho to read it or just figured they would shoot any dog they saw.

Well, OK, I suppose there really are some people in the world who would think it just fine that three cops fired off three rounds in their yard in the presence of their 12 year old daughter.

Or, maybe you wouldn't wait to file suit.
