Marine Charged With 13 Civilian Murder Counts (Haditha)
MSNBC ^ | 12/21/06

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - A Marine Corps squad leader was charged Thursday with 13 murder counts stemming from the killings of 24 civilians in the Iraqi town of Haditha last year, his attorney said.

Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich was charged with 12 counts of murdering individuals and one count of murdering six people by ordering Marines under his charge to "shoot first and ask questions later" when they entered a house, according to charging sheets released by defense attorney Neal Puckett.

As many as eight Marines could be charged in the case, the biggest U.S. criminal case to emerge from the war in Iraq in terms of people killed.

The deaths occurred on Nov. 19, 2005.

Lawyers for two Marines already have said they expect their clients will be charged and it’s believed up to six others could join them.

I am sure it will...

You add this Haditha case to the fact that schools, especially Universities and colleges are starting to refuse recruiters on the campuses....and it surely does bode badly.

Add that to the new gangsta culture and it will be very hard to find new, young patriots willing to enlist.I think I liked the old way of recruitment better. The old days where a judge would give you a choice.Enlist,or go to jail. Some of the finest soldiers I served with, were people given that choice. They took to the chance of being somebody.Nowdays, they are wanting people who can use a computer,or are proficient with a gameboy.People who can operate any electronic toy, with a diploma.GPS is nice, but if the power goes out, they still need to read a map!

There's already a change in the reporting from the American Forces Press Service. See for instance: Terrorists Killed in Iraq, 35 Detained; Bomb Damages Tank.

Meanwhile, the homepage of NCIS is calling for more recruits to handle the "increasing case load".

Calling All Sleuths!

For weeks, lilycicero and I have been trying to find the name of Sgt. Sanick Dela Cruz's lawyer. It was strange that we kept drawing a blank. Then, this past weekend, the NCIS leaks contained key comments by Dela Cruz (including taking a piss on dead bodies) that seems to make him the key prosecution witness.

Today, lily found a Washington Post article from 12/21/06 posted on the vile AfterDowningStreet website: US Marines charged in Haditha murder case.

The version of the WaPo article posted there includes a paragraph that reads: "Daniel Marino, Dela Cruz's Washington-based civilian attorney, has not returned numerous calls to his office over the past several weeks.".

So then I went to the Washington Post website and searched for that same phrase. The phrase brought up the same two articles for 12/21. But when I opened the articles, the phrase wasn't there.

If this works, here's a link to my search: WaPo search "Daniel Marino"

Now here's a link for the Washington Post article that the search yields, 4 Marines charged in Haditha killings.

If the links work for you as they do for me, the article is dated 12/21 in the search but 12/22 when you bring up the article. Also there's a slight difference in the titles. (One is "US Marines", the other is "4 Marines".)

So here's what I suspect.

Daniel Marino, a former Marine (see his bio), was Dela Cruz's lawyer but sometime before the WaPo appeared, something big happened. That's why he didn't comment. Then the Washington Post corrected its story, and dropped Marino's name from the online edition. Meanwhile, the commies are still carrying the original WaPo story with the bit about Marino not returning calls.

If this scenario is correct, does that make it likelier that Dela Cruz has struck a plea deal?

Unless I missed something, then the NCIS is leaking his statements without identifying Dela Cruz as someone who has copped a plea.

Not being a sleuth..... Would they do that to try to get him to flip? or do you think he already has?

Speculation...I think they scared him to flip. He sounded like a golden boy in the 2004 article and now they had the "dirt" on him.
By the way..hello.

Pure speculation, but I think he's being scared into flipping. Impossible to say because the NCIS holds all the cards and are just letting us see what they want us to see. Important to keep in mind that we, the public, are being manipulated.
