There are lots of lies surrounding the Global Warming mantra. The biggest one claims there is “consensus” among scientists that human-caused global warming is a fact. There is no such consensus.

"To me, consensus seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects."
-- Margaret Thatcher

"With respect to science, consensus is often simply a sop to scientific illiteracy. After all, if what you are told is alleged to be supported by all scientists, then why do you have to bother to understand it? You can simply go back to treating it as a matter of religious belief, and you never have to defend this belief except to claim that you are supported by all scientists except for a handful of corrupted heretics."
--- Dr. Richard Lindzen, the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Sciences of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The scientific method is the confirmation of hypothesis by independant observation, the test of theory to destruction. Consensus and belief are of the realm of politics and religion, skeptiscm and critical test are the realm of science.

Most excellent find bump, Geezer!

No credible evidence has been presented to me to cause me to believe that man can influence global temperature change.

This is another "follow the money" scam, IMHO. What is infuriating to me (and should be to all Americans) is that our tax dollars are supporting these Chicken Littles. I'd just as soon not fund their "research," TYVM!

BTW, Maine and West Virginia got some 'splainin' to do about their Bozo Senators!

As does, come to think on it, Floriduh, re: their Howdy Doody Senator expert on Syrian/US relations!

The great American cynic H.L. Mencken once said, "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the public alarmed and hence clamorous to be led to safety by threatening it with an endless series of boogiemen, all of them imaginary."

Global Warming is just one of these "boogiemen" H.L. Menchen spoke of.

Consensus for the hoi polloi.

I say 2+2=4.

You say 2+2=6.

The Iraq Mathematics Committee reaches the consensus that 2+2=5.

The last time human kind was strapped into such a mental straight jacket was during the Inquisition of the Dark Ages.

Nope. Stalin's Russia came after that.

A proper warning - the AGWs have government thugs on their side, whether they want them or not.

The skeptics may err in their science, but not in their concern over censorship.

How long until we can throw global warming on the 'over-hyped media scare frenzy' pile along with africanized killer bees, nuclear power, Y2K, heterosexual aids epidemic, acid rain, bird flu, swine flu, not enough flu vaccine, the coming ice age...? Feel free to add to the list, I am tired of typing.

OK, I agree with all points in this article. Major questions still remain though... Why are they all pushing a lie? Who stands to benefit? Who's behind it? How are they accomplishing this feat of mass manipulation?

Arrgh! My head spins!

One requirement for any meaningful scientific theory is that it must be possible to conceive of some evidence or event which would prove it false. For example, while it's believed that gravitational forces will attract objects in proportion to their mass, regardless of the materials of which they are constructed, such belief could be disproven if some material were discovered which was not subject to the same gravitational effects as other materials. I would not expect such a material to ever be discovered, but if it were it would disprove many of the currently-accepted laws of gravity.

By contrast, anything that happens is taken as confirmation of "global warming". Mild weather is caused by global warming. So's severe weather. Since no type of weather would disprove global warming, the theory itself is meaningless.

I'm one of the few "believers" in GW here, at least to a certain extent, however, this silencing of the opposition is quite creepy..

Global Warming Theory is extremely robust with respect to data. All observations confirm it with probability 1.0.

The fun part of threads like this is listening to those who claim evolution is a scientific fact (because all "real" scientists believe it) railing against the "junk science" of the global warming cabal. They're really the same situation, just different issues.
