Typical Washington Post fact-checking. Ottoman rule ended in 1918, 88 years ago. The guy was listed as being 60. The math's off unless Mom carried him in the womb for 28 years.

It was a portrayal of life in the Ottoman Empire; that doesn't mean it took place DURING the Ottoman Empire. A modern actor can play a Civil War soldier without having been alive during the Civil War.

A mullah walks into a pawnshop and finds a brass rat on the shelf. He asks the clerk how much it costs. The clerk says, "it's ten dinars for just the rat, and 100 dinars if you want the story of the brass rat." The mullah decides he doesn't need the story, pays the ten dinars, and walks out the door.

As he's walking away, he notices five rats following along behind him. He turns the corner. He looks over his shoulder again, and there's 100 rats following him. He runs to the next corner and turns around. Now there's 100,000 rats chasing him! He runs to the river and throws the brass rat in. All of the rats chase after it and drown.

He returns to the pawnshop. When the clerk sees him, he says, "I knew you'd be back for the story of the brass rat!" The mullah replies, "forget the story, do you have any brass infidels?"

"Do ANY Arab common people ever die of natural causes?"

Death by murder -- appears to be "natural" for Muslims...

Spoofer of Iraq's Chaos Becomes Another Victim

By Sudarsan Raghavan
Washington Post Foreign Service
Tuesday, November 21, 2006; Page A01

BAGHDAD, Nov. 20 -- For the last three years, Walid Hassan had an impossible task. He had to make war-weary Iraqis laugh. Week after week, the comedian and broadcaster found inspiration in the turmoil and bloodletting. On his weekend television show, "Caricature," he poked fun at the poor security, the long gas lines, the electricity blackouts and the ineffective politicians.

In Hassan's world, nothing was sacred. And many Iraqis adored him. In a nation bottled up with frustration, he was their release. They would recognize him on the streets and uncork their plights. He would listen, and turn them into satire.

On Monday, Hassan, 47, a father of five children, became a victim of the war and chaos from which he drew his inspiration. A Shiite Muslim, he was found in the majority-Sunni neighborhood of Yarmouk in west Baghdad with multiple bullet wounds to his back and head, according to police. He was last seen by witnesses in a black car with a driver and two other passengers.

Great place for James A. Baker III to open his new act.

>>Are libs still calling them "freedom" fighters?

How silly to suggest a lib has such integrity.

I'm sure you didn't intend to associate the legacy of the Iraqi comedian to that of liberalism. A better analogy would have involved the suppressor.

Yep....Exactly.

That is precisely why my instructions were to kill the bastard, drive a stake through his heart, dismember him and feed him to the pigs..
