Some Muslims in Baltimore County say lessons involving Islam being taught to seventh- and 10th-graders in public schools are inaccurate.
Bash Pharoan, president of the Baltimore chapter of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, says resource sheets, called "Islamic Life," given to seventh-graders studying world cultures and "World Religions" for 10th-graders in world history classes, not only misrepresent Islam, but show disrespect to the prophet Muhammad.
For three years, Pharoan says, he has unsuccessfully petitioned the Baltimore County school board to review the way Islam is presented in public school classrooms.
Joe Hairston, county school superintendent, said his "teachers do not use materials that contain inaccurate information."
Pharoan disagrees, saying the resource sheet on Islam belittles the prophet by referring to him only as "Muhammad."
"We always say 'Prophet Muhammad,' " Pharoan said. "Omitting the word 'prophet' is disrespectful."

Well, no. But you do bring a question to mind. Do history books still talk about Jesus Christ or do they use "Jesus of Nazareth?"

"I personally attended Baltimore county public schools. It was overwhelmingly biased towards islam. My oldest son confirms to me that it still is biased."
Why, do islamist teach there or do they send their terrorists in training there?

Al-
Recently my middle-school son came home with some test papers he had done in his Language Arts class. The usual "add the missing punctuation" sort of stuff. One of the sentences to analyze was: "The family is traveling to Mecca the birthplace of the prophet Mohammed." Apparently, it is OK to refer to Mohammed as a prophet but the schools NEVER refer to Jesus as the "Son of God" or "Lord and Savior".

"Wonder if they teach about how old MO was a slave master, rapist, murderer, thief and pedophile?
And any muslim saying "Jesus Christ" without saying "Our Lord and Savior" is being very disrespectful..."
I AGREE WITH YOU!
Terrorist logic at its best.

By saying "Prophet" the curricula will be implicitly acknowledging that Islam over all other religions. Also, I consider it disrepectful and hateful that Muslim textbooks teach that Jews and Christians are the children of pigs and animals, etc. in general. They are hypocrites.

Lib teacher(s). The guy used to rant about how 'filthy' toilet paper was and that middle easterners 'cleansed' themselves with water instead of smearing with paper. I had a good one.

I wonder if they mentioned how old was Aisha when he took her.
To: Alouette
"We always say 'Prophet Muhammad,' " Pharoan said. "Omitting the word 'prophet' is disrespectful." Will they say "The Prophet Moses" and "Our Lord Jesus Christ" as well?

Is this in there I wonder?

Only 13 and he sees the bias? You have a good son. Wake him up to what's going, and that's another person to stop Islamerica from happening.

Isn't including 'prophet' in a public school mixing church and state?
Doesn't apply here.
Islam gets a free pass.
Because Thomas Jefferson never mentioned "separation of mosque and state".
(at least that seems to be the way things go)
