Some Muslims in Baltimore County say lessons involving Islam being taught to seventh- and 10th-graders in public schools are inaccurate.
Bash Pharoan, president of the Baltimore chapter of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, says resource sheets, called "Islamic Life," given to seventh-graders studying world cultures and "World Religions" for 10th-graders in world history classes, not only misrepresent Islam, but show disrespect to the prophet Muhammad.
For three years, Pharoan says, he has unsuccessfully petitioned the Baltimore County school board to review the way Islam is presented in public school classrooms.
Joe Hairston, county school superintendent, said his "teachers do not use materials that contain inaccurate information."
Pharoan disagrees, saying the resource sheet on Islam belittles the prophet by referring to him only as "Muhammad."
"We always say 'Prophet Muhammad,' " Pharoan said. "Omitting the word 'prophet' is disrespectful."

Pigs be inseminating her.
If it's so disrespectful to say "Mohammed" without "Prophet" before it, how come there are so many Muslims named "Mohammed"?
I always call moe-ham-head 'a steaming pile of pig cr@p'.
a.k.a.
A steaming pile of pig cr@p founded the world's most violent and psychotic religion, which is currently trying to kill off all those that do not prostrate themselves to a steaming pile of pig cr@p.
Everything offends these people. Quit even trying to appease them. When they complain, say ya-ya-ya and drop the complaint in the toilet, flush, wash hands and get on with real life.
I suppose that the Momaus object to the term "not for profit" because it sounds like "not for prophet" and would be offensive to big mo.
Actually, a good Muslim would say, "The Prophet Moses" and "The Prophet Jesus"...calling both men good Muslims (who would defer to Mohammed). They'll even call Jesus "Messiah" and acknowlege the virgin birth.
What's offensive to them though would be referring to the Lord and Savior the Son of God Jesus the Christ, who died on the cross... all of that is anathama to a Muslim.
What's offensive to me is having my child refer to Muhammed as a "prophet".
I agree...we should not permit them to tell us who's a prophet and who is not.
If they are offended, so be it. I'm offended they refuse to believe Christ died and rose again...AND that He is the only begotten Son of God too.
Yeah, I love how they claim they include Jesus as a prophet, yet by saying Allah is the true God, Jesus must be a false prophet, and therefore a liar and charlatan. Jesus was the Prince of Peace. Their demented pedophile "prophet" caused the deaths of millions in order to enforce his tyrannical cult on a quarter of the globe. I am so sick of filthy Islam. It disgusts me that ever since 9/11 is had gained a new foothold in America.
Your reply was the only one I read that made sense. People need to stop talking about the problem and call or send an email(http://www.bcps.org/system/contactus.asp) to the Superintendent urging him to stick to his guns (no pun intended). I am no fan of government schools, but compared to the whitewashed 7th grade Islamic history chapters (6 in all) in our distict's recently adopted textbooks, the Baltimore curriculum sounds pretty good!
The goal of the Islamofacsists in the West is to wear down the infidel until they get their way; in this case, they have been making a stink for the last 3 years. The only thing the Muslim Mafia understands is strength. Let's help strengthen the resolve of the Baltimore County School District and overwhelm them with calls & emails of support.
Like-minded parents who have 7th & 10th grade students need to 1)review what your child is learning about Islam vs. what they get on Judaism and Christianity and 2) rise up and confront your school about this curriculum (the Council on Islamic Education (http://cie.org)has oversight with most, if not all, textbook publishers.) The fox is guarding the henhouse folks!
