Like twins, the Haditha and Hamdaniya cases are often mistaken for each other.
Both involve Camp Pendleton infantry units, both have made international headlines and both are playing out on the base. Camp Pendleton officials are expected to announce the Haditha charges tomorrow, and they have scheduled several Hamdaniya trials for next year.
Furthering the similarities, both cases center on allegations of murder.
In one incident, eight members of the Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment are charged with abducting and shooting to death an Iraqi man in April in the town of Hamdaniya. In the other incident, some members of the Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment are accused of massacring 24 Iraqis in the town of Haditha on Nov. 19, 2005.
But far from identical are the circumstances surrounding each case: The Haditha suspects contend that they had to act spontaneously in firing at homes where insurgents were launching an attack, while four of the Hamdaniya defendants have acknowledged that their crime was a carefully orchestrated kidnapping and execution.

How can we ever win this war if we tear into our own men more fiercely than we tear into the enemy?
This article continues the confusion between the 2 cases. It is no accident.
This is a bunch of Bravo Sierra.
We'll see what comes out on this.
BTW, jazusamo and I have been building a Haditha Marines Ping List. Let either of us know if you want on it. For searching, threads have "haditha" as a keyword.
Meant to ping you on post 8 above.
Finally have a free moment, I will do some digging and see if I can come up with something....
It looks like it will be 1 PM Pacific, Marine Times. It's confusing because it says Wednesday but I think they mean Thursday. See what you think.
