Governor demands changes in lethal injection protocol (Schwarzenegger: Terminate the killers)
Los Angeles Times ^

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday ordered his administration to fix problems in California's lethal injection protocol "to ensure the death penalty procedure is constitutional."

Schwarzenegger acted in response to a stinging decision issued Friday by U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel in San Jose, who said the state's system "is broken, but … can be fixed."

"I am committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure that the lethal injection process is constitutional so that the will of the people is followed and the death penalty is maintained in California," Schwarzenegger said in a formal statement. "My administration will take immediate action to resolve court concerns which have cast legal doubt on California's procedure for carrying out the death penalty."

It's at moments like this that I'm very happy I voted for Arnold. I know that Judge Fogel is a foolish guy for giving a ruling like this, but the Governator is trying to keep the death penalty in California, of all places.

Simple. Just have a guy with a .357 pistol standing ready and if anything goes wrong just have him put a bullet into the criminals brain. Minimal training is needed for the process.

It might then be demonstrated as all that is really needed, and they can scrap the rest of the dim procedure and save the taxpayers all the money wasted.

Hey, he doesn't have to kill them! He can just shoot them all in the foot like he did in Terminator 2.

someone mentioned in another thread on this topic, if one must be PC and not hang or behead or shoot the perp....why not just take some pure Heroin from the police lockers and give him a real nice fix......you know like use a 1 liter drip, like you would a saline drip...no pain...dead perp.

of course I believe the families of the murdered victim should be alowed to give the perp the death of a thousand cuts....or whatever torture they feel necessary to complete the job of killing the murderer.....

How about finding people who are not against the death penalty to administer the lethal injections.

Lethal injection should be done by veterinarians.

They're used to dealing with sons of bitches.

We must make sure murderers NEVER suffer? Ah the foolishness of our judges and politicians! Hey, causing an innocent woman to suffer a painful death is kosher; but making a murderer fear the evil he did is more than we can stand. Our sense of right and wrong is twisted even though we do know better.

Adjust the cocktail in the following way.

1 qt. battery acid a 12ga round to the head all of this is preceeded by staring at a naked picture of Billary.

On second thought I think what they have now works pretty good just add the Billary picture and they will all be asking for a double...

I have a simple answer: Use heroin. Junkies the world over kill themselves for that rush, so there's no way it could be construed as cruel or unusual.

The death penalty was not challenged. The method of administering it was. He was ordered by a judge to fix it. The question was not keeping the death penalty. Nice way to spin it for PR, though.

This article, thread and your comment are all three too insipid to even respond to... You must have really been in a desperate search of some kind of moment to be "very happy I voted for Arnold!"

He's not saving the death penalty in CA! The twit celebrity has been ordered to make his lump-jawed administration administer the lethal injection process in the manner the judge expects and demands.

Judges are our new rulers... Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, ya know. Yes, I'm in contempt of both the court and the "Governator!" I just wish we had a conservative Republican Governor that wasn't a bondage spendthrift!!!

Thanks for the compliment on suggesting that I'm a spin doctor. If you honestly think that this silly judge isn't working towards abolishing the death penalty in CA, then you need to be realistic. A strong proponent of the death penalty is needed to keep it in place during a time like this.

"I just wish we had a conservative Republican Governor . . ."

Agreed. However, I believe that Arnold is a huge step in the right direction over guys like Phil Angelides or Gray Davis. You know this and I know this. We're talking California, my friend. Arnold HAS been a strong death penalty supporter and that's what we need when a liberal Clinton appointee pulls stunts like this.

I am not sorry I voted for Schwarzenegger and I would do so again, because we have to keep some semblance of sanity in the California government. If he were in Texas or even Missouri or Florida, Arnold wouldn't be a good candidate. But for California, he's sort of the best we can get, I'm afraid. Even Tom McClintock couldn't pull it off.

When I said "spin it for PR," I was referring to the Governor's office, not you. His staff is often masterful at trying to turn the negative into the positive.

Sorry, I was being too sensitive, I guess. I just feel that we should give Arnold a chance. I've been impressed by some things that he's done on the death penalty. Let's just give the guy a chance.

No conservative guts... No conservative glory!!!

Learn it! Live it!! Love it!!!

With that fearful attitude, you all have simply created a SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY!!! (and it needs desparetely to stop!)

trying to keep the death penalty in California, of all places.

Not sure why you would put it that way. California has gone through wide idealogical swings over the past four decades, yet during it all one thing has remained consistent, support for the death penalty. Even during the 1970s when things were far worse than they are now, the public voted for and passed death penalty initiatives, and even rejected the kooky liberal judges who were thwarting it.

Arnold's role in this is close to irrelevant. So if you were having regrets over voting for a Governor who thinks like Hillary Clinton, your concerns are still valid.

Then you, my fellow Freeper, are part of the problem in California, not part of the solution.

Voting for a liberal only leads to the advancement of liberalism and the implementation of liberal policies as we have repeatedly witnessed since the Austrian took office.

Could I possibly convince you to stay home during the next election cycle instead of voting for another liberal?
