illary clinton is the not-so Human Chameleon.

She is a paradoxical personification of nothingness.

She is a simplistic parody of Woody Allen's intricately layered Zelig.

The life of missus clinton is a mock documentary about a non-entity who takes on the characteristics of whatever strong--

or useful--personality she comes in contact with.

Missus clinton's life seems small, and there is a reason for it: There aren't any characters in it.

Missus clinton proves what Woody Allen merely hypothesizes: The erroneousness of the almost universally held postulate that everyone is someone.

... While America appears not to be ready for a female president under any circumstances, the post-9/11 realities pose special problems for a female presidential candidate. Add to these the problems unique to missus clinton. The reviews make the mistake of focusing on the problems of the generic female presidential candidate running during ordinary times.

These are not ordinary times. America is waging the global War on Terror; the uncharted territory of asymmetric netherworlds is the battlefield; the enemy is brutal, subhuman; the threat of global conflagration is real.

Defeating the enemy isn't sufficient. For America to prevail, she must also defeat a retrograde, misogynous mindset. To successfully prosecute the War on Terror, it is essential that the collective patriarchal islamic culture perceives America as politically and militarily strong. Condi Rice excepted, this requirement presents an insurmountable hurdle for any female presidential candidate, and especially missus clinton, historically antimilitary--(an image, incidentally, that is only enhanced today by her clumsy, termagant parody of Thatcher), forever the pitiful victim, and, according to Dick Morris, "the biggest dove in the clinton administration."

It is ironic that had the clintons not failed utterly to fight terrorism... not failed to take bin Laden from Sudan... not failed repeatedly to decapitate a nascent, still stoppable al Qaeda... the generic female president as a construct would still be viable... missus clinton's obstacles would be limited largely to standard-issue clintonisms: corruption, abuse, malpractice, malfeasance, megalomania, rape and treason... and, in spite of Juanita Broaddrick, or perhaps because of her, Rod Lurie would be reduced to perversely hawking the "First Gentleman" instead of the "Commander-in-Chief."

Time Fine Gael ended it's 'marraige of convenience' with the Labour Party.

This sounds eerily akin to a shotgun marriage.
Any time I see that word describing a political entity - Labour, (or Labor) - I cringe.

It quite possible the shtogun marraige will end after the next election - Labour leader Pat Rabitte may prefer Fine Gael over Fianna Fail, but the more lefty elements in the party such as Michael Twee Higgins and Brendan Howlin (*snicker*) are favouring a coalition with Fianna Fail - I say good, let Fine Gael stand on it's own two feet!

The PDs are conservative some of the time, the trouble is, they are as useless in coalition with Fianna Fail as Fine Gael is with Labour - the point I was making is I want to see a realignment of Irish politics, Fianna Fail with Labour, and Fine Gael with the PDs.

Alas, the next Taoiseach is going to be Bertie Ahern, but I console myself with the fact Enda Kenny is no better - as a grassroots Fine Gaeler, I see his dirty tricks unfolding here on his home turf in Mayo, and he doesn't have the feel of a statesman in any case. Fine Gael should gain some seats next May or June, hopefully new blood will join the parliamentary party, hopefully we'll get a real leader, then.

The Ghost of Saul Alinsky lives.... Take a look at that picture of Hillary found in a few biographies of her back when she was about 20. As I remember she was sitting in a chair, wearing those gaudy 70's wide-stripped bell-bottom pants, feet spread on the floor, she is wearing those big somewhat thick glasses and looking right into the camera. Looks a lot like her hero Saul here.--beyond the sea

I do remember that particular photo of hillary wearing coke-bottle shades and Alinsky arrogance, punctuated by gaudy-striped-bell-bottom, wide-bottom, spread-eagle feminist rejection of even a modicum of attractiveness. (If anyone has that photo, please post here. Thank you....)

This brilliant Alinsky-clinton observation by beyond the sea is the perfect segue to an analysis of Alinsky's influence on hillary clinton... which leads inexorably to hillary rodham's closely guarded Wellesley thesis. (Plan to do an extended piece on that shortly.)

In the Wellesley thesis, hillary discussed "how to change the American political culture." This discussion occurred in the context of a tribute to the leftist political organizer, her mentor, Saul Alinsky.

Does missus clinton reveal her own thoughts on the radicalization and even balkanization of the American political process? We can't yet say with certainty because the thesis has been closed to public scrutiny from the moment missus clinton insinuated her radicalizing, balkanizing, liquidating self onto the national political stage.

If I had to guess, I would say she adopted Saul Alinsky's theories and practices without modification: hillary clinton exhibits no creativity, no vision of her own and tends to glom onto the latest fashion, whether it's Alinsky's Stalinist methods... or New Age occultism, recall her attraction to the teachings of

• Marianne Williamson, who some described as a "Jewish charismatic spiritualist"
• Ken Scott Nateshvar, yogi to the stars
• and the pièce de résistance, Jean Houston, the Director of the Foundation for Mind Research.

Houston was described by some as a "New Age" author who "studied psychic experiences and mystical connections to historical figures and other worlds." When the story of the Houston connection became public Houston became known as hillary clinton's "Eleanor Roosevelt Conduit."
