The more screwed up their childhood was the more likely they are to be screwed up as adults. Go figure.

46% of all statistics are made up!

What the hell does this all mean?

Don't die or get divorced, your kids will be gay!

Homosexuality in a rational society would be classified as a mental disorder. And up until the 1970s, it was. A genetic explanation can be ruled out on evolutionary grounds.

Yes, homosexuality occasionally happens in animals, but 1) humans are animals too (though we aren't merely animals) and 2) homosexuality isn't normal for animals either.

Secondly, just because someone has a mental disorder doesn't imply they should have no rights-- it only implies homosexuals aren't normal people. If narcissism and things like "conduct disorder" are considered mental illness, then I see no reason to exclude sexual confusion from the list.

I worked as a Flight Attendant at TWA and I knew more gay men than most people ever will. I can't recall any that had a "normal" upbringing and very few that didn't have an incident of molestation in their past.
My best friend while I worked there was ....um....a bit flamboyant so to speak and he recalled an incident with an overly affectionate(to sugar coat it a bit) "boys group" leader on a camping trip. ( It's not the group you are probably thinking of.) I have also observed that most of them had domineering mothers and passive fathers if they had them at all.

Oh, the irony.

This report pretty well backs up the idea that the best adjusted folks come from a loving home with a father and mother.

But the queers want to promote families with two mommies or two daddies. What a great way to "grow" their population.

Reminds me of something I heard once, I believe it had been written on the wall in a women's room: "My mother made me a lesbian", and underneath it was "If I give her the wool, will she make me one, too?"

And I don't think anyone can accuse the researchers of anti-"gay" bias! Naturally, those of us who have studied up or even read an article here and there about the causes of homosexuality are not at all surprised. Always good to have more confirmation of the truth that homosexuality is a dysfunction with several known causes including absent or neglectful father or in some cases mother, single parent households, broken family, and molestation.

provides striking new evidence for the influence of childhood family factors on sexual-orientation development.

But, but, but I thought they were born that way.

Seems the decline in the traditional family contributes to homosexuality.

The authors conclude: "Our study provides population-based, prospective evidence that childhood family experiences are important determinants of heterosexual and homosexual marriage decisions in adulthood."

In other words, the scientific fact remains that everyone is born heterosexual.

Having an unstable childhood environment might fail to protect the child from early molestation. I wish they had asked how many of those who were homosexual had been molested and at what age this took place.
