An independent group that ran ads criticizing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Hatch was funded mainly by a Houston homebuilder who helped finance the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth against John Kerry in 2004, a recent filing with the Internal Revenue Service shows. Bob Perry, owner of Perry Homes, contributed $500,000 to A Stronger America, whose Minnesota chapter spent about $750,000 on TV ads and direct mail. A spokesman for the chapter, known as A Stronger America-Minnesota, confirmed that all of the money donated by Perry was spent on the Minnesota effort.
During the campaign between Hatch and GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a mailing by A Stronger America-Minnesota accused Hatch of "a 20 year pattern of intimidation, arrogance and abuse of power," and TV ads said he was under investigation for "influence peddling," and that he supported tax increases. Hatch, who said the claims against him were off-base, lost last month's race to Pawlenty.

Cluster........
Ping for your MN list.
However, Hatch was undone when he called that female reporter a "Republican whore" three days before the election.
And then, after he lost the election, he blamed his running-mate, Judi Dutcher, for her E-85 (ethanol) ignorance.
Similar to Keith Ellison and all of his problems with his traffic tickets, revoked licences, election documents.
He allowed his wife, with MS, to take the fall for him. It was her fault.
A$$Hole!!!

What is the problem with Bob Perry spending his own money as he desires? I don't hear similar "exposes'" of George Soros's funding of leftist sites and groups.
A running mate with McCain in 2008???
They desrve each other.
"Off base"?? That's a pretty lame rebuttal....
"A Stronger America"? I thought that was the Kerry-Edwards bumper sticker in '04. BTW I thought it would be a hoot to change the Kerry slogan to "A Stranger America".......
Thanks Bob Perry. You supported the right man at the right time. Governor Pawlenty has his naysayers on the right but he has done a wonderful job and would make a good Vice President.
Hatch was a mean, hateful man who characteristically picked out enemies and tried to destroy them with the powers of office. Having him as our governor would have been a disaster.
So the Red Star Tribune regurgitates.
Why does the site list Pat Doyle as having written the story and Frederic J Frommer on the FR as having written it? And why does the name Frederic J Frommer keep ringing a bell?
The original story has been edited and re-written. The Strib doesn't change urls when they update a story.
