White House war room gets 21st century face-lift

US President George W. Bush's successors will inherit a difficult war on terrorism-but they will also get a Hollywood-worthy, state-of-the-art White House facility room from which to run it.

The "situation room"-the high-tech hub immortalized in movies as a dimly lighted conference table with decorated generals and power players in dark suits advising the president-is getting a facelift.

I have been in that room and sat in THE chair. I will tell you it is small and unassuming. They needed a bigger and better room for this and one that is state of the art.

It needs maps as big as the side of a barn, and it needs a table about the size of the one shown but with pieces you can move around. Ditch the computers.
